Seattle Thugocrat Cops Execute Man With Backpack Claim He Had Grenade, No Explosives Found.

Just your typical day in Seattle, police use excessive force and shoot a man with a backpack in the head and chest, nothing like a good old execution to start of the o´l work week.

You want to bet it was a cell phone?

Man carrying apparent WWII grenade killed

The Associated Press
Updated: 5:53 p.m. ET June 20, 2005SEATTLE - A man carrying what appeared to be a hand grenade was shot to death Monday in the lobby of the downtown federal courthouse after he walked inside the building and made threats, police said.

Police spokeswoman Carmen Best said the man died of his wounds.

The man, wearing a backpack strapped to his chest, entered the public lobby of the 10-month-old courthouse just before noon, carrying what appeared to be a "World War II-type" hand grenade, police Chief Gil Kerlikowske said. Witnesses said he tried to get past security, began shouting threats and was then shot when confronted by police and federal agents, police spokeswoman Christie-Lynne Bonner said.

Paramedics waited for all-clear
Paramedics could not approach the man for more than an hour until bomb squad members could determine it was safe. Kerlikowske said the backpack was examined and did not appear to contain an explosive device.

U.S. Marshal Eric Robertson said the entire 23-story federal building was evacuated, but some employees were allowed to return while the bomb squad worked. Streets surrounding the building also were cordoned off as dozens of police cars responded, jamming noontime traffic.

A female janitor working in the building told Seattle television station KING that she saw the man in the lobby and watched as police walked toward him.

She said the man yelled: "Don´t come near me, don´t come near me! Stay away, stay away!"

Chay Adams told the station that she saw police shoot the man.

"He was agitated, and he kept moving his hands," said Adams, who said the man had been sitting on a bench with a yellow backpack.

Officers reportedly fired two shots
She had evacuated to the fifth floor, where she said she could see down into the atrium lobby. Adams said officers shot the man twice, "one in the head and once in the chest," and he slumped forward.

Adams had visited the building to bring cake to her dad for Father´s Day.

"I just wanted to find out where my dad was," she said.

Elizabeth Piontkowski, 21, of Des Moines, was on jury duty on the 14th floor of the courthouse shortly before noon when a court official told members the building had been locked down.

Jurors were told the building was being evacuated because of a bomb threat, Piontkowski said. They were ushered outside and told to move quickly.

Before exiting the building, Piontkowski said, she and other jurors could see police outside with their guns drawn. She said she didn´t hear any gunshots.

"Then the cops started yelling at us to run and we started running down the street," she said.

The new federal courthouse opened in August. Many of the major security features of the $171 million high-rise at Seventh Avenue and Stewart Street are disguised. Glass walls that permit ample sunlight are blast-resistant.

The new courthouse houses the U.S. Marshals Service, judges, support staff and court clerks, as well as the U.S. Attorney´s Office, bankruptcy courts, and probation and pretrial services.

It holds 13 district courtrooms, five bankruptcy courtrooms, and 22 suites for judges and their staff. Secure hallways lead from cell blocks into the courtrooms, so prisoners don´t contact the public — unlike in the old building.

Thank goodness Bush set a precedent for premptive action. Otherwise the police would not have been able to take such action as quickly as they did. These are obviously men of action, and are much needed in these times. It is unfortunate if he had no bombs or grenades, but he probably wanted to hurt someone anyway.

The cops in this town shoot to kill and are as far from Bush supporters as Pollyannah is. They are the thugocrats back up, the men on the march. King County is a Thugocrat stronghold. WTO was their making, the riots, the mayhem.

These guys really over-reacted. If he really did have a bomb, it may have gone off. But no one saw anything about him having a bomb, he was just a crazy guy sitting on the bench.

And you are on crack!!!!

The man was wearing a backpack strapped to his chest. Not the usual manner in which to be sporting a backpack and one which will draw attention.

The man was holding a grenade. A grenade! Did you all understand that? I said a GRENADE!

If the above is not enough, he is shouting threats to the police and security.

Now, answer me... when he made a move with the grenade, how in the world was anyone, except him, to know if the grenade was live or not?

If someone points a gun at you, are you going to assume its empty? HELL NO!!!!

The man was inside the lobby of a 23-story building with many people around, for Christ´s sake. As to the possible bomb going off, I suppose it could have. However, because the sniper placed his round exactly, the chances were minimal: after the man was dropped, he was still clutching the grenade. The sniper was able to stop all brain activity and turn him off like a switch.

Excessive force? KMA!!!! He had it coming to him. Just another example of suicide by cop.

The funny thing is, that no matter which way the police were to go, you would find something to bitch about. If the police did not shoot him and instead let him explode the grenade and/or possible bomb, you would be crying foul.

So, really it does not matter what you think. The officers in this situation performed as they have been trained to do. The sniper obviously demonstrated his ability at switching off a dangerous, threatening suspect.

Just your typical asshole looking for a way out because he was too damned chickenshit to do it himself.

So what you´re saying is that this guy didn´t bring this on himself. That the police should´ve waited around until he had a chance to prove his threat, and maybe kill a lot more innocent people.

On top of all this, you have to somehow point the blame on democrats. There´s no excuse for that kind of behavior. Honest guy, you need some professional help.

RBH, you should´ve been there today. You should´ve been standing side by side with this moron. You should´ve tried to reason with him as he began shouting threats against your life.
