What is the difference between a psychotic and a psychopath?

I get the impression that every psychotic is also a psychopath, but psychosis is further complicated by the loss of touch with reality.

Is that correct?

No, psychopathy is a disorder marked by a lack of empathy, guilt, or conscience. Psychosis is delusions, hallucinations, etc... not really a specific disorder but more a class of symptom. Someone with psychosis isn't necessarily a psychopath, in fact they are quite separate.

I think that they are both equally crazy, in my opinion.

I think a psychopath is now called a sociopath, and they are usually people who have little or no empathy for others. They are the ones who have no remorse after killing another human being, or animal.
A psychotic is someone who is not in touch with reality. Most schizophrenics are psychotic, but not all psychotics are schizophrenic.

Absolutely its one of their main tools. Suck someone in that you care and then manipulate as you wish. They think its funny and the their victim is stupid and deserves what they get.

The answer to your question, OP: Psychotic is an adjective, describing psychosis which is a noun.

Psychopath is a noun, such as someone who is suffering from various psychotic disorders.

A psychotic is not in touch with reality...he is confused and violently so.

A psychopath is not at all out of touch with reality, he simply does not care about you or things others seem to care about. He has no qualms about doing whatever it takes to achieve his goals and understands that you do, so he keeps queit about it.
