Drugs make people hard to take down. I pepper sprayed the hell out of a fellow years ago{they didn't have tasers back then} then wrapped my pr24 around him over and over, tried pressure points and bar choke and everything I could think of and he wouldn't go down and comply. He was on PCP.Hard fight and we had to dog pile him. Drugs can make people resistant to pain for sure.

I remember a news story when I was a kid about a guy high on PCP. the two cops trying to arrest him for assault and battery that they witnessed broke their nightsticks on him and he managed to get one of their pistols, shot both and killed one. the other officer shot back and killed the guy.

if you read the story, the suspect claimed he couldn't remember a lot of what happened, this is common after a meth bender.

Of course, it's more dramatic that way.

The first part of the incident was posted here recently.

When I was in academy they told us young fellows about officers who had put more than ten rounds of 9mm into PCP abusers with no effect. I carried a sig P220 .45 on the job with the best knockdown no bullshit loads I could carry. Usually Corbons for penetration alternated with Glaser safety slugs for impact wounds. Figured that would put one of those drug induced fuckers down.

I'm going to seriously date myself but I think the cops in the story were carrying Colt .38 police special revolvers.

Once cuffs are on, the best way to calm the perp is to step away from him/her.

The officers who keep on punching, kicking and tasing after
suspects are down and cuffed are not only committing assault
but are exacerbating the situation.

It doesn't matter if people are on drugs or not,
perps are innocent till proven guilty in a court of law,
not guilty by assessment of officers at the scene.

Cops are not trained this way any more, and know nothing of actual law, and are encouraged to say whatever they want as if it's law, but this training and ignorance and lying is
just as much criminal behavior as any perpetrator.

I don't see any excessive use of force here. The dude was high as a kite. Ever try to arrest someone high on meth or angel dust? I have. They have super human strength, won't follow commands and will almost always resist until they are short circuited.
Citizens better be very thankful for the use of Tasers. In the old days, they just shot them....but of course......that was well before the dramatic spike in the usage of very potent drugs that we see today.
Before ANYONE comes to any conclusions, try arresting a very high person with your bare hands. Be in their shoes for one minute of that ground battle and see what it feels like to wrestle with an animal with rights.

Well, apparently he's out of jail, so why not a blood test for drugs? If he's so innocent, he shouldn't have a problem with that, personally I would be suggesting that, if it was me.. More of the prior video would have been nice.
Sorry, to me, it looks justified.
