As an American woman I can only (speak for myself) and say I know I'd make a terrible wife. I called off 3 separate engagements because although I loved the men at the time I knew "wife" wasn't a role for me.

American women are no longer interested in the standard matriarchal role. Its not their fault, but it is true. Many of the other races still are interested in this. It has nothing to do with dominating a weaker person and its some racist shit to say. Who says they are weaker? They have far lower divorce rates then us. They dont run out when it gets tough. If anything they are stronger then your American self imagined princess attitude.

What's the harm in that? If you men had taken better care of your families, women wouldn't have had to take a more dominant place in the marriage and the workforce. I agree with you that it is better for women to be home with the kids when possible -- I wish every family could afford that (I stayed home with our kids for a number of years and I know it made a difference). But alas, it's very difficult to raise a family on one income of $35,000 (or whatever the average income is these days).

As we warmly debate this topic, i offer for consideration:

At least half the women i have known well and long term have shared stories of past and current abuse with me. i suspect many won't venture into discussion on these topics, so the actual percentage of abused women in the US may be even higher.

It is no surprise to me we have an appreciably dysfunctional society when the better part of half the population has been physically, sexually and/or emotionally abused, often in formative early years ... this is classical trauma based programming, the stuff split and devastated personalities arise from ... and, what is often not reflected upon is the toll of guilt, shame and dysfunctional behaviors it results in for the abuser ...

so we have fractured moms raising fractured sons in households with abusive fathers and daughters getting abused, a very strong generational chain that i suspect is getting worse ...

only question i have is why ... it started ... why it continues is fairly obvious ...

Basically, I agree with this, and I'm a man. But there's a reason the men could not "take better care of their families." Real wages were declining, and there was discrimination that is ongoing against men in the workplace. There is a continuing social agenda to hire females and fire males.

So let's not confuse this with a matter of manhood -- not that you said that but someone could read it that way. It's a matter of inexorable social movements that are causing women to enter the workforce, both from economic need and greater opportunity.
