Most ppl won't use the ban button unless someone is being really obnoxious. If that's the case the person probably deserves to be banned, and just like that particular troll was pissing off the OP they will be pissed when they are banned from said thread. I notice sometimes when a thread gets sabatoged at what point that is, and what has been said right before. Sometimes it is really obvious that someone is trying to draw attention away from certain points and that's good information to have. On the other hand, it is discouraging to have to wade through the abuse to get to an important topic and sometimes the trolling does stop the OP from continuing. Overall, I like the ban button for personal threads. Maybe if there was a button you could click to see the thread with all the banned users (minus the content of their posts) you could tell if it is someone who usually has meaningful stuff to say getting banned.? |
