perhaps you have created the elemental of your dog, complete with smell by recurring subconscious desire

was he a happy farty dog or poorly smelly dog
if this is your elemental, your abiding conscious memories are likely to be an expression of a more subconscious feeling

if thoughts of your dog repeatedly 'spring to mind', over time you create and repeatedly strengthen an elemental through sentiment which once created , is projected out from you
, detached from you but destined to return to you
eventually ,once it has achieved it's task

i know this sounds bonkers

the more desire/thought you put behind an elemental , the stronger it can grow .eventually it could acquire material existence on some level-so the smell may be a manifestation of that


or maybe you just have a slow leak under some boards
and a perfectly healthy emotional memory of your dog

The thing is, is that when i first started smelling it, and even since, it is in no association with the dog, except to explain to someone what it smells like. I'm just trying to figure out what it corresponds to...like what we're thinking when it "shows up".

The dog was wonderful though, tragically died (put down)...long story.

No, it's not bonkers. I understand that the more thought you put into something, the more energy you give it and the more chances there are that something will manifest.
