What will tattooed people do when the tattoo FAD ends (all fads do come to an end)

dude tattoos have been popular for thousands of years, pretty sure it's not coming to an end anytime within the next two - three millenia....

Tattoos are not a fad. Man's been marking his body since we crawled out of a cave.

When one gets a tattoo however, one should be advised to get a design the they will like forever.

I love my tat, never regretted getting it for a minute. My mom, horrified that her baby girl was getting a tattoo, threw the "when you're old it will be all shriveled up and ugly' line at me, but I said, hey, it will be MY shriveled up and ugly tat and I'll still love it. And I do! If you want one, get one, and if you hate them, chill out. There are a million better things to worry about than other peoples's choices on how to decorate their bodies. jeez.

my son's got tattoos on his neck.

he was at a local bar talking to some girls, when one girl asked him "do you take drugs?"

the 2nd girl jumped up and said "he's got tattoos on his neck!!! of course he takes drugs!!!"

he quickly fell in love with the 2nd girl...

Only in the US would females be able to do anything at all. Like, talking that way, and not having guys get up and walk away, or worse.

But I'm glad the boy found someone who doesn't mind the neck tattoos. Must have been painful to have done, would be extra painful to remove.

To each his or her own, but they're just not for me. I do have my ears pierced though.

So now they do lines of coke off of each other?

the whole generation is tatted up to the eyeballs! including women!

they don't like coke heads or drunks much. they're potheads!!!

most of them drink soda at the bar.. or maybe a beer.

they seen too much with their parents drunk.

Luckily that is a 1950s view and your stuck back then. Today tats are accepted anywhere ...well maybe not in the red states.

why don't you worry about your life OP, and i'll worry about mine. you don't like body ink, don't get a tattoo, and let the rest of us get as many as we want.
i love tattoos and mine aren't especially well done or anything, but tattoos can be fixed, and even removed, not that i'd ever remove mine.i don't like nazi people, i've never looked differently on a person for not having any tats, why would people look at my three tattoos and feel anything different than it's a friggin ornament on your body.i'm getting my husbands name tattooed, and my kids, and if uptight, boring people think that makes me look trashy, i do not really care.

I have no tattoos! I am 32 and I have resisted the fad.I think there are basically a few different tattoos. 1). I make poor decisions. 2). I am brainwashed by popular culture. 3). I am a criminal. 4). I am a drug user. 5). I have low self esteem. Anyway. Don't invest. Build a tattoo removal shop and spread propaganda that tatts are out. I tell my friends all the time..."Don't get that tattoo bro. One day they will be like mullets and tight rolled z cavaricies." The tattooed man or woman used to be a sideshow at the carnival. Man has been getting tattoos for centuries yes...however, man has not been getting flaming bongs tattooed on them for centuries. Nor has man been getting "J J Mah Boo" tattooed on their necks. Nothing says "no hire" better than a series of ridiculous tattoos. I do think, however, rapists should have "RAPIST" tattooed on their forehead....or "CHILD MOLESTER". Or. "THIEF". I think this would cut down crime....significantly.

The wealthy will have them removed by laser using a top notch plastic surgeon or dermatologist. They can be removed without scars in 99% of thee cases.

Poor people will live with them, covering them up with waterproof make-up when they must for social or business reasons

Tattoos have been a fad since...THE BEGINNING OF TIME.

Get tattoos if you wish--but no one who thinks they can "afford" tattoos should qualify for foodstamps, obamaphones, "free" lunch, Section 8 or medicaid--because if you have $ to spend on tattoos I shouldn't have to pay tax to subsidize your groceries.

The ones that I'm getting very tired of seeing are on people who apparently see themselves as "stars"--and then there are the spiderwed set--mostly on "bikers" or biker wannabes--fortunately the tough girl with "barbed wire" around your arm must now be passee'.
Too many on display around here look like they were done with a ballpoint pen during lonely hours in a jailhouse...

Yup, just ignore them and go on with your life. Best investment you can make.

I don't know If any one pointed thIs out yet, but tattoo has actually been around longer than any other body decoration/ modification. Thousands of years hard to call that a fad. But yes bad tattoos suck. For the record I have sleeves and Chet panels in progress had have invested over6000 so far in my lifetime art investment. Can't be stolen, there even after your dead.

The smart ones didn't do it as a trend and their tatts are not trendy.

The ones that did it on a whim will hide or remove them I guess. But some tatts are awesome and will never need to be hidden. This coming from someone that hasn't got one drop of 'ink' on me.

Fad? Haven't we been tattooing ourselves for thousands of years?

The tattoo fad is an example of how our society has failed or children over the last 25 years. We pumped up our kids with false self esteem and let them believe that anything they do is OK. There is no longer any sense of right or wrong and even less self-discipline or restraint. Many of the replies to this thread prove this.

And yes, tattoos ARE a fad right now. I agree that they have been around forever, but only in a tiny percentage of people. Today, people without tattoos stand out.

When I got my first tattoos it was rare to see a woman with tattoos..or anyone for that matter. It seemed all of a sudden everyone and his brother were getting tattoos.

So I didn't get tats to be a part of any sort of fad because I did it way before it was in vogue and I did it because I wanted to. I don't regret it and never will.

And for those that say "what about when your 60" blah, blah, blah. Tattoos will be the least of my worries lol.

Just noticed this is an old thread in which I already posted...ugh.

I have to say I am not a big fan of neck or face tattoos but have nothing against those that get them. As long as they understand it is going to hurt their chances at some types of jobs, etc.

And not everyone that gets a tattoo is trashy...that's just stupid. I've seen some people that just seem to want to cover every inch of bare skin and I think they look silly but whatever floats your boat I guess.
