They were even going to have their own brand of computers made with Google, but that didn't pan out.

Americans used to make their livings by building things and participating in their local economies in meaningful ways...now they've been tricked to accept that the only way to earn a living is under the nanny-umbrella of a large corporation like Wal Mart, serving as cashiers while people buy products made overseas.

I quit shopping there a long time ago. No way I give them my money. I now only go to buy a hunting liscence, and they make 0 on it.

Also how many Americans once owned thier own business in what used to be a downtown shopping area? I live between Gettysburg and Chambersburg. Two small towns where once you could find everything you needed by walking around the business districts. Now both towns are surrounded by not just Wal Mart but other big box corporate stores.

I found it very interesting that the town of Gettysburg hired additional meter maids to pass out tickets once they had a Wal Mart just outside of town. You grab a bite to eat in town, stop at the hardware store and get to your car to find a $45.00 fine. Next time you will eat at the Burger King and shop at Wally World with free parking!

The old downtown stores had something no Wal Mart will ever have. They had window displays, owners who remember your name and they had individualism and personality.
