crazy coughing sickness

yes. christ i hope this isnt more wide spread. The thought of what could have caused me to become so ill has really been bothering me but not wanting to sound like a paranoid nitwit I have refrained from saying anything.

Started about 3 weeks ago. I'm in South Carolina. I'm fairly young (36), I never get sick and I'm 7 days into a 10 day script of very powerful antibiotics without feeling much relief.

Also a ton of mucus that is more than unpleasant to deal with. Nose, throat and chest. My doc thought I may have pneumonia when she listened to my lungs.
She recommended a full chest scan but I refrained and promised to call back on Tuesday (2 days ago) if I was feeling significantly better but I'm holding out to finish these last 3 doses before I do so.

If I have to go back in, I will insist on a VOC test. I drink only filtered water from my berkey which should remove all the VOC's so my guess would be that its in the air supply if the test were to come back positive.

My husband has just started with the deep chest coughs this week as well. And he is another that never gets sick.

It has had me concerned. Please anyone else who is experiencing symptoms please reply with location, symptoms and how long its been going on.
