The music industry is DEAD
Music nowadays is all garbage. Have you turned on the Top 40 stations lately? It's either degenerate rap or MAJORLY over-processed bubble gum pop crap. Disposable American Idol contestants who become overnight "celebrities" to be forgotten the next day are NOT real musicians like the Beatles or Bob Dylan.

American Idol is to the music industry what McDonald's is to the restaurant industry.

No real substance, no creativity, DISPOSABLE.

Re: The music industry is DEAD
Maybe you should listen to something other than Clear Channel, er I meant radio. there's nothing on the radio anymore.

There's lots of great artists out there. They just don't get any play.

I really like country and I like jazzy stuff, like Micheal Buble.

I get all my music online. Only listen to the radio to hear talk shows. I have no idea what the top songs are right now and don't care cause they're probably all awful.

Re: The music industry is DEAD
The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, the Beatles, etc. have a substantial fanbase 30-40 years after their heyday and EVERYONE know who they are. They worked from the ground up and didn't have instant fame handed to them. That builds CHARACTER in a musician.

Ten years from now people will say "Carrie who?"

Can't wait for Amy Winehouse's new disk. She's one of the few artists today who will transcend.

Lady Caca is a Madonna copycat/wannabe creation.

Sad that the entertainment industry can't come up with an original act anymore.

it's a sin what is called music these days and what they are making off of it............but it is supported by half-wits that idolize them so it flourishes...........

Re: The music industry is DEAD
The 'music industry' of today consists of all image and no substance.

Listen to a Lady GaGa song today, and anybody with a good sense of music would know that it's complete shite. But her music doesn't sell because of the music, but the antics she takes part in. This includes letting people believe she's a hermaphrodite, wearing meat bikinis, dressing like a drag queen or something out of a sci-fi fanboy's fantasy, and acting controversial.

And then all of the braindead people will say "OMG Lady GaGa is sew kewl lyk OMG gotta listen to her music or I won't be popular and loved amongst all my totally uber kewl friends at LOLZ."

And keep note I'm not just talking about teenagers. There are certain people well into their 40's, mainly females, who wish they could be young again and try too hard to achieve this.

Re: The music industry is DEAD
I haven't bought a CD in 7 years, and the one I did buy 7 years ago was Johnny Cash.

The dimwits at my work play the top 40 radio stations, and I always lower the volume when they leave. It's complete garbage. I have given up on music since the late 90's. I think everything I listen to is from 10-40 years ago.

Re: The music industry is DEAD
It really is time to turn off the iPod and the CD's and the TVs and the Internet iTunes, and the Radios, and get busy making your own, whatever you come up with. That is where the originality comes from: people doing their own thing at home, in their garage... no longer copying what already is a Has Been -- got "their' t-shirt.

Although it helps to learn to play the instruments with skill and finese.

Re: The music industry is DEAD
Here's a song from a great new cd that I bought.

If you like Johnny Cash's last few records. Praise and Blame will be right up your alley. Atheists be warned! Every song deals with spiritual/religious themes. I'm not kidding. This cd is awesome.
