I watched it with my girl friend. I don't know if that was what might have caused your lights, but it did go into space. I was on Telegraph/M-24 going south from the downriver area towards Monroe. It wasn't lightning or fireworks reflecting off the clouds, this was high in the sky and above the clouds. It did look just like lightning but the flashes were very rapid and close together and were sometimes red. Only lasted about 20 seconds. Quoting: Mr. Muggles I did.
