I will be using Samba for the file server, I just wanted to know what the fastest and most stable distro is.
Probably some server edition of the well-known distributions. Like Ubuntu Server or whatever it is called. Or do you need a desktop on your file server?
Dont need no desktop, just a non-gui file server, I want it to be fast though.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1113434I'm not very knowledgeable along these lines, but I think any distribution will do. A dedicated file server shouldn't have any speed issues, especially when running on such a fast CPU. It's just how I see things. Perhaps someone here can confirm or deny this.
