Alot of angry and downright venemous responses to this thread. Looks like the OP has hit a nerve.

Unless you're making alot of money and doing it without too much stress, what exactly is the point of working like a dog? Most people are chained to mortgages they can't really afford, raising kids they didn't plan on having and dread monday mornings when they have to report to the plantation.
They rationalize their plight by telling themselves they're doing the right thing, they're mature etc, but at the end of the day are they really happy with their lives? Who's the real "loser?"

People like the OP who are happy slumming it put a spotlight on our choices, and those who aren't happy with their situations try to shame him for taking the easy road.
