Neurocam was the work of an Australian based artist, funded with a grant from Arts Victoria. An article in The Age (a Victorian newspaper) which was later cross-posted to metafilter, brought it to popular attention in 2004.

It reached its peak early in 2006, however without further funding it was unable to continue in the stlye which had first brought it noterioty. In 2008 it formally ceased operations.

Artistically its style might be considered closest to DaDa, although it professed to no particular ideology. While its literary influences drew from works such as Thomas Pynchon's 'The Crying of Lot 49', Umberto Echo's 'Foucault's Pendulum', L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', 'The Magus' by John Fowles, and to a lesser extent Robert Anton Wilson's 'Illuminatis trilogy'.

Yellow one was formed in the latter part of 2008 by former members of Neurocam's online community. Its stated aim at the time was to perpetuate the Mythos which Neurocam created.
