Marine Ospreys Doing "touch and goes" @ Santa Monica Airport in Los Angeles

Did anyone else in the L.A. Area see these aircraft. Happened about 10 minutes ago????

I am wondering if this has anything to do with the exercise that the Oregon F-15's are participating in. I have noticed an upping of the Military presence and ops over L.A. Basin as of late.

Neat plane to watch ... as long as you are beyond their crash distance!!!

I have seen them fly several times now, including vertical take offs and landings ... and personally would NOT like to ride in one. I have no fear of flying almost anything else ... but those things give me the bejeebees when I just watch them. NO SAFETY MARGIN at all unlike fixed wing aircraft or even helicopters.

I saw one as well, going from rotary to fixed wing over west LA around 2 pm today.

Not a usual military aircraft around here. Usually only helicopters going up the coast from one base to the next.

Ospreys are cool!

I love watching them take off - when the propellers move from top to side (front facing) as they fly.

Watched some a couple times in Aug.

Yeah it was pretty neat to see. I have never seen them in person. There are not the most sneaky thing. They are almost as loud as a Cobra, I could hear that low bassy THUUUMP, from pretty far away.

Ospreys crash a lot

Yup. I was forced to watch the Military channel for quite some time.

I SAW FOUR FLYING LOW OVER PICO RIVERA IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. THEY MAKE A LOUD SOUND LIKE A WASHER ON A SPIN CYCLE. THE WERE MOVING TOO FAST TO BE IN HELICOPTER MODE. THEY WERE FLYING AT NIGHT
