Honey as an Antibiotic: Scientists Identify a Secret Ingredient in Honey That Kills Bacteria

ScienceDaily (July 12, 2010) — Sweet news for those looking for new antibiotics: A new research published in the July 2010 print edition of the FASEB Journal explains for the first time how honey kills bacteria. Specifically, the research shows that bees make a protein that they add to the honey, called defensin-1, which could one day be used to treat burns and skin infections and to develop new drugs that could combat antibiotic-resistant infections.

More honey threads and less bees. The math is not sustainable.

Knew that for decades...
Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support!

Accredit the bee.

+ 1 and _LOVE_ the bee!! =) I just saw a program that finally proved how their tiny wings do provide enough lift for their huge bumbling bodies. They're amazing!!

~ Also, did y'all know that honey is _THE_ longest-lasting survival food? Jars of 4,000 year old honey were found in Egyptian tombs, and though crystallized and hard, some was reconstituted just as easily as that old crusty honey in your cupboard, and there was NO degradation of nutritional values.

~ HOW COOL IS THAT??? =)

~ Y'all Are CrAzY Doom Tards!! But I love y'all anyway... well, not the shills, not so much... ~

~ Wanna know what we're all here for? THEY know: [link to www.youtube.com] ... So if _THEY_ can manage this, why in the world are WE such hateful fail-tards, people ........ ? ~

Maybe it's the pharmaceutical companies behind the bee disappearances.

Scientists need to keep up! Lol, my grandma knew about honey. They used it in WW1 to treat wounds before antibiotics. It's anti-biotic, anti-viral and anti-fungal - miracle food.
