Re: Mormon Church Caught in $10 Billion Dollar Scandal!
Why is this called a scandal? Somebody simply went nuts with their dreams. A construction project was originally estimated at $350 million. Now, the project has expanded so much that it is estimated to cost $8-10 billion. In the entire history of the world, this has never happened before (sarcasm). If the Mormons want to spend money their money that way, then let 'em. It's their money. Maybe Mormons are scandalized, but nobody else gives a hoot.

Are they, perhaps, building an underground bunker for the Mormon Elite?

Ask anyone who has dealt with Mormons in Business. They are corrupt to the very core. First off, unless you and your management are Mormon (and I mean tithe paying, temple card carrying Mormons) you don't get any deals with them at all. If you are a "newly converted" Mormon, they'll check with your Bishop and teachers to make sure you're truly "sincere" in your wish to join their little cult. Then you'll realize that they may deign to do business with you as a "new convert" but they'll be asking for kickbacks and overcharges shuffled to their families left and right! When we built a few buildings in Downtown Mesa Arizona, I saw almost 30% of the total budget go out in hidden "black" payoffs to various Mormon officials and their families. You know - little things like a pair of new Escalades for his wife and "sister-in-law" (code word for #2 wife) or an educational trust set up and fully funded to cover the college expenses of eight or ten children! (At BYU of course.) And the list goes on. Seldom did they just take dollars outright. It was always in terms of "gifts" or "trusts" or things that were hard to trace. One big retailer had to open "unlimited" charge accounts for a handful of Mormon Women who then brought in dozens of kids and wives for full wardrobe. The only thing was these accounts were "selfclearing". No matter what was charged on them, a credit for an equal amount posted BEFORE the close of the billing cycle each month. To an outsider it would look as though the lady was just paying her bills in full. The truth was it was paid by the retailer and was nothing more than an ongoing payoff!

Don't live in or buy a house or condo built by a Mormon however. Many of them cut so many corners they've been known to collapse after five years or so! Literally!

I think a whole bunch of Mormons would be quite angry if there was a bunker being built for the leaders with no room for them...cold-blooded to say the least.

The problem is the "Books are closed" and the Church refuses to allow a public accounting of their finances. This is a glaring crime and it needs to be investigated!
