Just heard the weirdest loud noise I've ever heard in my life! Philadelphia suburbs

The revolution probably just broke out. Wont be on tv, just weird threads about loud noises and stuff.

Sonic boom, maybe? They aren't supposed to fly that low when they go that fast anymore, but who's to say they wouldn't?

Was sitting in my house and heard the loudest sound ever in the sky. It's clear out, sunny, so it's not rain. I live in a suburb outside of Philadelphia, 15 minutes from the Philly International Airport, so I thought it could be a plane? But how could a plane make that much noise unless it was flying so low? Very freaky moment, it freaked my cousin out too, she was in the bathroom and heard it. Anyone else in the area hear something? Maybe it was normal, but it was very unexpected.

if a jet broke the sound barrier they don't have to be that low for you to feel or hear it.

people in the puget sound might remember a recent event involving scrambled jets and broken presidential airspace in seattle.

See, as we most all have computers with constant hi speed internet, surely we could roof mount a rack of moderate quality sensor apparatus. Microphone, sky pointed camera, basic weather gear....what not. This could be recorded and periodically uploaded then aggregated with basic software.

Then we're saved the embarrassment of saying 'something went bang' or 'there is a light in the sky.' It's out there already.

It sounded like when a plane is flying over. We heard that a few times a day, given the proximity to the airport, but I've never heard it that loud before, and we've lived here for years. It also didn't last just 3-4 seconds, like it normally would...it lasted at least 20 seconds. Airplanes aren't that slow, even if they are preparing for landing. It was a mixture of that and thunder, a very loud and resounding boom.

No, each and every one of us is a precious snow flake, dear. It's a fun idea and would be far more personal, and interesting then staring at outdated and screened soho loop.

I wasn't trying to bust YOUR chops. It's just frustrating when something happens and your stuck trying to explain it in a pinch. It's like when you go to the mechanic and he asks 'what sound was your car making again,' and his buddies snicker in the background, while you make the churgrclack clack sound.

I didn't think you were. I personally wouldn't be averse to something like that...my husband, however....I think nowadays he's wondering why he married a crazy conspiracy theorist haha. Some stuff he might consider/agree with...other stuff, he looks at me like I'm a complete lunatic.
