Quoting: Anonymous Coward 704060I have a feeling it will really come in handy when SHTF "You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 704060 United States 10/12/2010 07:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Last night I mostly got religious stuff and a crazy guy "broadcasting from his barn in SC" talking about the end of the world lol. Lots of spanish and french stations as well. Are there any of interest I could pick up from where I live (Metro Detroit?) Quoting: Mr. Mugglesyou have to know when stations come in like am or pm, you can hear allover the world with it, just gotta find the right station at the right time. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1128071Better yet, get two and keep one in the faraday box always. A cookie tin should work fine as a faraday cage. what good is that if all the transmitters are fried? |

Try between 5 and 7 MC Quoting: Endtimewatchman 1127456The trouble with old radios...the capacitors go bad and you have tubes to contend with. Both capacitors can easily be replaced on older radios. A tube radio would be best because it would be immune to an EMP burst. They can be found on ebay. |

Almost capiche. Here is the one I have: [link to www.universal-radio.com] It definitely needs a new antenna but it serves it purpose for now. I'm still new to shortwave. Is there anything else I should replace besides the capacitors and antenna?
