.

If you shop the sales, you can get Ritz crackers
for half that price almost any time.

As for milk... Aldi has been selling it a $1 a gallon.

Why do you pay for water? I skim the butter fat off fresh milk, than add water to taste. Can you buy whole milk and add water?

Texas

Here in the DFW area the grocery market is very competitive.

Aldi just moved into this area about a year ago... I hope they survive.

Store brand, coupons, sales prices...don't pay $4 for a box.

Right on...Dollar General has a Triscuit knock off brand (forget exactly what they call it)that is the bomb. Costs about $1.69 here in Georgia. Triscuits go for over $4.00/box.

The items that have not gone up, the weight has decreased I've noticed. Same price, smaller package. Most people don't realize it.

LOL! I read this whole thread and this ANONYMOUS COWARD is the ONLY one who mentioned this detail! I love it! It is one of my (many) pet peeves, and it's happening across the board! Ritz crackers as of this date are no longer 16 oz, but 15 or 14.1 or 12.9, depending upon the FLAVOR. Triscuits.....yeah, yeah, I agree about the refined carbs, but I happen to LOVE triscuits. They USED TO come in a 16 oz box eons ago, but have gone down, down, down.....15.....12....10...and now 7.6 to 9 oz, yet the price is AT LEAST the same if not more.

And what about ice cream?? We used to get half gallons, then when metric began to pop up here - 1.75 liters. Then.............the cartons LOOKED the same, but upon closer inspection, the bottoms were ever so slightly narrower, and even CLOSER inspection revealed the words "1.75 QUARTS"....then 1.5 quarts. And NOW - in the freezer you will see at a higher price of course, "NEW......LARGER SIZE.......HALF GALLON". New???? NEW???

slaphim tantrum OK....I'm ok now.
