Mom Bloggers Paid to Promote High Fructose Corn Syrup

The call, which was organized in conjunction with a web site called Mom Central, has stirred up some controversy in the mommy blogging world, with some of the participants writing about it in return for $50 gift cards.

Other bloggers turned down the invitation, citing ideological opposition to accepting money from the Corn Refiners Association in return for advertising all the wonderful aspects of consuming HFCS.

i wonder if they even know it's bad, or if they're just clueless and figure some big association is telling them it's ok, so it's ok?

Seriously, they have been dropping cash for while now to keep the public cool but it seems to be more excepted in the mainstream.

Too bad people will simply forget when its rebranded "corn sugar".

As I drink my cold Pepsi now, I realize I get tired of the Nanny State always saying what is bad for you.

I've been a nurse for many years, and I will tell you.. all the fat people at the hospital drink diet cola.. all the skinny ones drink real soda with high fructose corn syrup!

You're wrong. The nannystate wants you to drink your hfcs drinks. And lots of them. Then the pharm corpos can charge the government for your insulin.

The corps use hfsc because the US sugar lobby pushed through legislation limiting imports of sugar so they could make more money and charge more for sugar. Thus the corps, to save money, have put hfcs in everything. FFS it's even in "healthy" cereals. It isn't just your soda dear.

They did this on cafemom too...I used to get paid in gift cards just for keeping a certain amount of posts up...then they started groups for shopping...they would send you a gift card for kohls or kmart and you were supposed to use the card for a project or whatever and report back in the group with pics...I quit then because it was just lame...I mean how much can you really talk about kmart???? Plus it just didn't feel natural...
