They didn't live long onough to get cancer! Lifespan was significantly shorter than ours is today.

Thats a really good point...

yeah whatever

lots of exercise
no gmo foods
hardly any vices
dead before 30

thats a good plan for avoiding cancer , hell if we just adopted the dead before 30 plan cancer would be a non issue in todays world

Life Span issues

Chemicals in the environment

(we could NOT support even 20% of today's worl population without the heavy use of chemicals ... thus they have become a necessary evil in today's enviroment ... though of course we should try to eliminate those we find are bad and to limit as much as possible the use of all others)

Re: Obviously we are killing ourselves..ancient people showed very little signs of cancer..
I blame it on...

'medicine' ... Take this pill for a cold a bit of it gets stuck by mucus to your throat lining, you don't realise (why would you).. you go to sleep, you wake up next morning and then it's too late, those cells have had an extremely high dose of whatever 'medicine' and have likely become very toxic, (combined with possible bacteria and virus, say if you were taking something for a.. cold) white blood cells attack that area.

Virus and bacteria are flung everywhere, toxins released as cells are destroyed leaving you a nice toxin ridden infected cellular hole in your throat, then you go outside and take a deep breathe of a car exhaust, or some burnt... whatever and the toxins from the over-medicated area interact witht he particles of 'pollution' and bam cancer ;)

lol

Of course it doesn't happen like that.... ...

But ya get the point.. I think that our 'medicine' plays a large role in creating cancer.

That and we can make a lot of cancerous people survive so much longer and so it spreads to a greater number of the population over the generations.

Do away with cancer!

Kill all those infected!

:D

Lol - Marked for 7 days :) (the real objective)

The overall incidence rate for childhood cancers has increased significantly by almost 33% during the period 1975 to 2001

And so has the US population...

There is a school of scientific thought that disease is a stepping stone in evolution. there is a some trade off and/or it slowly rids the gene pool of faulty genes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1123608

That is true actually - back in the days when there was no chemo and cancer treatment, those people would have died and therefore the faulty gene would have been removed from the gene pool.

Nowadays that person would survive and have children.

Diabetes (type 1) was less prominant as well because there was no insulin so anyone with diabetes would have just died when they were babies, now the diabetes gene gets passed on.

Very interesting perspective...so the will to live through medicine could have created even more disease..The "natural course" was altered...In ancient civilizations you would have just died therefor not carrying on the gene..shit that makes sense from a naturalist stand point...

But now everything is loaded with cancer causing chemicals/toxins including the air and water..so now the numbers increase...

Re: Obviously we are killing ourselves..ancient people showed very little signs of cancer..
yeah the nfl is supporting national cancer awareness month and a sports board i belong too i brought this up the other day

about how little signs of cancer are in the archeological record,
not sure they believed me
think most cancers are an engineered virus or fungus of some sort
but you can bet if there is ever a one pill cure or course of antibiotics you could take to get rid of it it would never receive mainstream exposure,

the big money is in long term expensive treatments not short term cures

this idea will go on to say that disease will eventually show up to strengthen the gene pool, not weaken it.
