This Antivirus Action crap keeps popping into my world. I thought I'd managed to murder it after working on it for six hours the other day, but apparently...it's BACK!

Anyone know how to get rid of this nasty bit of business?

Please?!

HELP!!!

If you keep up to date with Microsoft patches open your cmd prompt [cmd.exe] and type mrt

This runs a Microsoft anti-malware removal tool and if the definitions are up to date, it will completely disinfect the operating system because only Microsoft understands how viruses infect their proprietary system.

Good Luck

Just sloppy code and poor compiler design do to legacy code. New compilers have been rewritten with security in mind and prevent buffer over runs in newer software. It is very expensive to rewrite, so companies only do so when a vulnerability is knowingly exploited. This ad-hocking will unfortunately continue until a total os rewrite is done. Nature of the beast and lazy programmers.

HELP!!!

1. Download Avira Free Edition Anti Virus here [link to www.avira.com] install it, update it to the newest definitions and run a scan

2. Then go get Microsoft Security Essentials here [link to www.microsoft.com] and do the update for newest definitions and again..scan your rig

These two apps installed on your machine will keep it nice and tidy..i do this for a side job outside of my day job..i been doing this for many years and these two programs combined together make one sturdy machine

so far i am very very impressed with Microsoft Security Essentials..get the newest update..that's if you run on windows.

Sounds like you need to reformat and reinstall your OS.

If it's a a really bad virus, you can't get rid of it. It'll replicate and "hide" itself, changing it's name, erasing it's footprint, sending whatever it was programmed to when it has a connection... Buy a new harddrive, boot into safe mode, back up only what you have to onto a dvd or memory stick, and install the new hard drive.

It's the only way to be sure, because some viruses get into the boot partition. so whatever you do to get rid of it is only a hindrance as it will return. :)
