Re: TSA Refuses Commercial Airline Pilot Access to his Plane
You don't have to be so literal regarding 9/12. The rules regarding jumpseating were changed ON 9/12 at my airline whether planes were flying or not. That was my point! Isn't that a coincidence?

Yes, I am aware that at certain airports, the crew doesn't go through security. But in one of my previous comments, which you didn't read, pointed out the 1fact that if three pilots show up in uniform for a flight when two are assigned, THAT would be questioned, wouldn't it? DUH!

2I am trying to get across to people like you that Michael Roberts was about to be a PASSENGER and was NOT a crew member for the flight. Yet, he doesn't want to ever go through security because he's wearing a uniform?

Apparently you are not aware that pilot uniforms have been stolen from hotel rooms and are also being sold on ebay. 3That means that anyone wearing one of these uniforms and about to be a passenger can pass through security anytime according to you!

And I am well aware that there are those working at airports who do not pass through security. That has always been one of my gripes, but after 9/11 and a few other failed attempts at blowing up a plane, it shows that the terrorists want to be martyrs.4 They want to GO DOWN with the plane and meet the 72 virgins waiting for them! :o)

5It's no longer the days when crews were taught to comply with hijackers...that all the hijacker wanted to do was to get from Point A to Point B when they brandished a gun. Whether you know it or not...that was what every pilot and flight attendant was taught the days prior to 9/11.

They hijackers were not in jumpseats.

1.by who? TSA ? Think again. That check is by the gate agents.
2. Jumpseaters--here is an example of a jumpseat policy of a major US carrier-edited to not have the name of the airline
=Proceed directly to the gate and request and complete a jumpseat boarding pass from the gate agent, then proceed to the aircraft to get the captain’s approval. Uniform or business casual is required, along with company ID and airman’s certificate. Check-in at the gate. Will accept as many jumpseaters as there are open seats in the cabin on both domestic & international flights. See Captain for authorization. For international segments, the jumpseater's company must have a Reciprocal Jumpseat Agreement with US Airways. Check in at the ticket counter no less than 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure and pay departure taxes.
-Now the FO in question had gone thru the metal detector and didnt beep. Yet for some reason known only to TSA he was tagged to go more indepth.
3.No it does not. You obviously know jack shit about airline ops or jumpseating.
If you are going to js in the flightdeck-You have to be in the CASS system. That involves name employee number and picture in the database.Thats checked at the gate. The CASS -Cockpit Access Security System costs about 1 million dollars per airline so that Joe pilot from united can be verified by John ticket agent at American before he ever walks down the jetway. And then only if there are no empty seats in the back.
4. mmm. and?
5. Common strategy2. Ever hear of it?Should have had it in day 1 of indoc.

Now as for :people like me-
Who have been airline pilots for 16 years. Who have 5 type ratings, 3 ATP(L)s-FAA JAA and another, who have been instructors on transport category jets, a chief pilot at a major US airline, and a FIDO.

Re: TSA Refuses Commercial Airline Pilot Access to his Plane
Rules are rules.... The pilot knew them, and instead had to play smartass. Just sayin'

The rules changed. I am a Captain at another airline. The day before this reported incident was the first day I was asked to go through the imaging machine. I refused. (I have to go through the airport three or four days a week, for the next 17 years. I don't really need that much X-Ray exposure. Do you?)

They reluctantly let me go through the metal detector, as I have the last 17 years, and was done with it. But by the next day, the new rules were clearly being enforced on the pilots, and Roberts was faced with a dilemma.

How long until the next rule change? And what will it be? How long before you have to be searched to go into the 7-11? And how long before some numbnuts tells you, "you knew the rules...you have to obey the rules just like everyone else. The Constitution doesn't guarantee your right to go into the 7-11...you are still free to just opt out."

While you are pondering those questions, consider this: The pilots and flight attendants (entrusted with your safety) have to go through security. The rampers, baggage handlers, lav truck and provisioning truck drivers do not...because they are out of your view. They could put anything on the plane. The pilots don't NEED anything to take down the plane. What would I do with a knife, hold it to my own throat and take over the plane? I already HAVE the plane.
======
BadPilot above

You have to be the stupidest son of a bitch to ever post on this forum. Damn, you are dumb! All of the airport workers are carded to ensure that they are who they are supposed to be (workers). They have to present their ID cards and answer questions that only they know the answer to before entering their work area. Anything they bring into the work area has to be screened, just like a passenger.

For you to post such shit as you have presented here proves that you do not have a clue about what happens with airport security.

You bring up the issue of x-ray exposure. Yet if you were actually a pilot, you would know that in one flight of an hours duration you are exposing yourself to more radiation than if you had ten x-rays.

If you were a pilot you would have known about how the flights were taken over on 9/11. You obviously do not.

You are dumber than shit and a total phony.
 Quoting: JoeNeubarth

BadPilot-I didnt know the rules changed-again. Seriously its time for ALPA to grow a set and say bullshit like the British Airline Pilots Association did.
The Federal Gov-the idiots who spend billions on machines these pube counting machines-has decided that putting a picture of a pilot on his license is not needed.
JoeN you are rude dumb and a waste of space. You have no clue how much of a joke airport security is and will be.
Does a mechanic go thru security with his tools Joe? How do they let that thru the machine? But your fingernail clipper is a threat to air safety? The same clipper you can buy on the other side of the xray machine?

Cocky pilot. Nice language, too. You are very unprofessional. Probably cheap, too. One of the "higher than mighty" ones just like Michael Roberts who think your sh-- doesn't stink. You don't know what you're talking about regarding 9/11. Was your airline involved? I didn't think so.

And I know how one gets to jumpseat..I NEVER indicated it was by permission of the TSA! You can't even read!

By the way, I can't believe you quoted "snopes." LOL They're about as reliable as the sites that say that remote controlled airplanes flew into the WTC, or that there really weren't any planes...just bombs in the buildings planted by the government. One person on GLP told me that a UFO beamed flight 93 up because the wreckage was nowhere to be found.

I will not bother to respond to anymore of your posts. You just think you know everything, and I know for a fact you don't.

Cool-Just another gate agent who hates pilots.
here how about this as a source-the official 911 report.
Reports from two flight attendants in the coach cabin, Betty Ong and Madeline "Amy" Sweeney, tell us most of what we know about how the hijacking happened. As it began, some of the hijackers-most likely Wail al Shehri and Waleed al Shehri, who were seated in row 2 in first class-stabbed the two unarmed flight attendants who would have been preparing for cabin service.25

We do not know exactly how the hijackers gained access to the cockpit; FAA rules required that the doors remain closed and locked during flight. Ong speculated that they had "jammed their way" in. Perhaps the terrorists stabbed the flight attendants to get a cockpit key, to force one of them to open the cockpit door, or to lure the captain or first officer out of the cockpit. Or the flight attendants may just have been in their way.26

At the same time or shortly thereafter, Atta-the only terrorist on board trained to fly a jet-would have moved to the cockpit from his business-class seat, possibly accompanied by Omari. As this was happening, passenger Daniel Lewin, who was seated in the row just behind Atta and Omari, was stabbed by one of the hijackers-probably Satam al Suqami, who was seated directly behind Lewin. Lewin had served four years as an officer in the Israeli military. He may have made an attempt to stop the hijackers in front of him, not realizing that another was sitting behind him.27

The hijackers quickly gained control and sprayed Mace, pepper spray, or some other irritant in the first-class cabin, in order to force the passengers and flight attendants toward the rear of the plane. They claimed they had a bomb.28

So now-if you are "in the know" as you stated earlier,
Please tell me which is accurate-your views or the 911 Report?
Because if its your views then the 911 Report is a Bogus document. Willing to testify to this.

Or should I stand by my assertion that you don't know shit?
God aren't arrogant know it all pilots just a pain in the butt.

Yeah, the shillers are out in force on this one.

Lots of money behind forcing people through naked body scanners and high levels of radiation exposure.

The idea you get 10 xrays equivalent every time you fly and therefore should not complain about naked body scanner is complete horsehit. I would rank that lie right up there with the one about getting more mercury in a tuna sandwich than a flu shot.

How to opt out of the TSA's naked body scanners at the airport

(NaturalNews) I encountered my first airport naked body scanner while flying out of California today, and of course I decided to "opt out" of the scan. You do this by telling the blue-shirted TSA agents that you simply wish to opt out of the body scanner. Here's what happened after that:

A TSA agent told me to step to the side and stay put. He then proceeded to shout out loudly enough for all the other travelers and TSA agents to hear, "OPT OUT! OPT OUT!" This is no doubt designed to attract attention (or perhaps humiliation) to those who choose to opt out of the naked body scanner. I saw no purpose for this verbal alert because the same TSA agent who was yelling this ultimately was the one who patted me down anyway.

For the pat down, first I was required to walk through the regular metal detector. From there, I was asked if I wanted to be patted down in a private room, or if I didn't mind just being patted down in full view of everyone else. Not being a shy person in the first place, I told the agent I didn't need a private room.

He then explained to me that he was going to pat down my entire body, including my crotch and my buttocks, but that he would use the back of his hands to pat down the crotch and buttocks areas. This is probably designed to make the pat-down seem less "personal" and more detached. That way, air passengers can't complain of being felt up by TSA agents who might get carried away with the pat-down procedure. He asked if it hurt for me to be touched anywhere, and I told him no, at which point he proceeded with the pat down.

It was a well-scripted pat-down, covering all the areas of my body, including a mild crotch sweep (it wasn't especially invasive or anything, as doctors will do far worse during a physical exam). He swept my arms, legs, hips, back of the neck, ankles and everywhere else. To the TSA's credit, this guy was fast, efficient and only used a light touch that was in no way disturbing. But it did take an extra five minutes or so compared to walking through the naked body scanner.

Speaking of the naked body scanners, as I was having my crotch swept by the back of the hand of this TSA agent, I was observing other air travelers subjecting themselves to the naked body scanners. They were told to walk into the body scanner staging area and then hold their arms in the air in a pose as if they were under arrest. They were told to freeze in this position for several seconds (perhaps 10 seconds) during which they were being blasted with ionizing radiation that we all know contributes to cancer.

The TSA, of course, will tell you that these machines can't possibly contribute to cancer. But they said the same thing about mammograms, and we now know that mammograms are so harmful to women's health that they actually harm ten women for everyone one woman they help ( [link to www.naturalnews.com] So I'm not exactly taking the U.S. government at its word that naked body scanner radiation is "harmless."

As these air travelers were being scanned, their naked body images were appearing on a screen somewhere, of course. Some TSA agent was examining the naked body shape and contours of all these people, and even though we were told by the TSA that the image viewing machines cannot store images, we have since learned that the machines actually do have the capability to store those images ( [link to www.naturalnews.com] In addition, rogue TSA employees could simply use their cell phones to take snapshots of what they see on the screen. There are no doubt rules against such behavior, but it's bound to happen sooner or later.

Meanwhile, my own security screening was proceeding fully clothed. I don't want to broadcast my naked butt cheeks on the TSA's graphic monitors, thank you very much!

Very few people opt out of the naked body scanners

As far as I am concerned, I have flown for the last time. I really don't care to support the airline industry anymore. I can't believe so many Americans put up with illegal search and seizure that is the T S A.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 777821

My job requires that I fly regularly (several times per month). Tomorrow may be my last flight - and possibly the termination of my job.

I refuse to submit to a penis-measuring virtual strip search, or alternatively be sexually assaulted. If the only other way for me to keep my dignity and stand up for our 4th Amendment is to walk away, that is exactly what I will do.

I've already notified my employer, and my rep and customers that this may happen. My customers have replied with a "stand your ground and do what you have to do" comment. My employer may not be as forgiving. I've already sent an email to my attorney (specializes in civil liberties cases).

Think about this - the US Supreme Court in 1968 (Terry v. Ohio) ruled that the police only had the right to search 'outer clothing' when they could articulate probable suspicion that the subject was about to, was in the process, or has just committed a crime. They can also 'frisk' if they suspect there is an immediate threat because of a suspicion the subject may have a weapon. But, other than that, the person has to be arrested (i.e. probable cause for criminal charge).

Yet, now these TSA goons - who make less than half what the police do - have the authority to not just search your outer clothing, but literally fondle everyone's genitalia. This is insanity.

To the rocket scientist who called Michael Roberts unstable - please, do everyone a favor and do not reproduce, and don't vote. It's spineless, cowering sheep like you that would kiss the feet of Hitler. You are about as un-American as they come.

I'm not much for conspiracy theory, but I can't help but think our government is trying to see how far they can push its people before they push back. So far, we're getting the ass-raping we deserve.
