opinions on raw food diet
I was just wondering how many have tried this diet and how has it worked out. I just fasted for 4 days and have been 90% raw for 2 days now. I plan on continuing this for 30 days to see if it helps with my depression and lack of energy. I typically eat the standard american diet of pretty much nothing but processed meat, high sugar, salty food, and junk food with very little vegetables or fruits.

I've noticed some changes so far, such as clearer skin, a little more energy, and almost odorless bowel movements. Detox hasn't really been that severe so far. I have noticed a slight increase in body odor which is strange because I usually have almost no smell. Hopefully it is just part of the process of releasing toxins.

I am still skeptical about this diet and its benefits, so is there anyone out there that could share their experiences and tell me if it is worth the effort? Thanks.

Re: opinions on raw food diet
my husband and I are 90% raw. get some good recipes so you won't get bored... and learn what foods work well together.

Invest in a decent blender and dehydrator. I have an excalibur.. works like a dream.

Start off your mornings with a green smoothie... your body will love you

I lost 18 lbs in 6 weeks and he lost about 26

we've slipped lately, due to birthdays and busy schedules, but we're getting back on.

make sure you're only organic.

Good luck!!!

Re: opinions on raw food diet
Love the raw diet. My son turned me onto it about six weeks ago. I'd say I'm about 80% raw, 20% cheat.

Have lost 22lbs already and am full of energy. There does seem to be a cleansing process you go through both physically and mentally, at least that has been my experience.

Little to no cravings for crappy foods.

Good luck op!

the only thing I take is coconut oil and bee pollen... if you're eating a well rounded raw food diet, you'll get all your nutrients from foods in they're natural state as God intended.

Please post your results as you get further along... we all need to encourage each other... this diet can be very hard when you have those around you who turn up their noses.

Re: opinions on raw food diet
I'm probably the last person I could think of to try something like this. I had problems.

10 year ago, regimen:

Purge
Watermelon juice, wheatgrass juice, 7 days.
(w/wgj enemas)

Next 7 days:
Sprouts (pea, sunflower, fenugreek, radish) watermelon juice
(w/wgj enemas)

Next 7 days:
Same as above but added cantaloupe in the AM and Avocado in the PM

Week 4:
Same as above

Amazing.

Wheatgrass is the wonder drug.

Re: opinions on raw food diet
We humans have adapted to a cooked diet supplemented by raw vegetables and fruits.

Cooking foods 'partially digests' the food - on a chemical level, thus makes it possible for our bodies to more fully break down the food and pull nutrients out of food.

The problem with your previous diet was not that it didn't contain raw food, it contained higher levels of processed foods, sugars, fats without sufficient amounts of fresh veg and fruits.

I suspect, based on what Westerners usually eat, you ate a high grain diet.

Not too long ago the FDA restructured the Food Pyramid, yet they failed once again. Their diet is an ECONOMIC diet, not one actually fit to promote good human health.

An Economic diet is high in grains because grains are easiest to grow in bulk, you can feed more people off an acre of grain than you can fresh veg or fruit.

Fasting is NOT a good idea. All it will teach your body is that there is famine going on. The human body is geared toward survival, there is a series of processes that take place during 'lean times' which allows the human body to survive a famine. Part of that is that the body starts to eat itself, the organs, fats and muscle tissues.

Once the food returns then the body will push you to eat more (hunger) and then translate as much as possible into fat. People who take on a starvation diet (low calorie via low volume of food) will usually gain more weight once the diet ends. This has nothing to do with what or how much they are eating, it has much more to do with the body preparing for the next famine by stocking up on fat.

Ideally you should be eating 6 servings of fruit and veg a day, 1-3 servings of LEAN meat, 2-3 servings of grains and using sugar and fats sparingly.

1-2 Servings of dairy (eggs, cheese, milk) depends on your body's ability to process dairy. Many people are slightly intolerant and should refrain.

Further, one should be eating at least 6 times a day. No not 6 huge means, 6 smaller meals broken down evenly across the day.

Your stomach is supposed to only be as big as your fist. It stretch and distends when you eat a big meal. If you retain the body to register "full" with a smaller meal, you will, eventually, require less food to feel full.

Re: opinions on raw food diet
I've been trying to do research online about the raw food diet. I try to eat a lot of raw organic food however i'm not 100% raw. Possibly in the future i will be 100% raw.

It seems that the green leafy plants and vegetables are the most important. I actually chew many of my raw green vegetables rather than juice them as I believe it greatly benefits your teeth.

Think about it.. if we ate the healthiest way would we really need to see a dentist? Do animals in the woods get cavities or lose their teeth.

God designed us to eat a diet rich in plant food. I'm not going to say that's eat bad to eat fish and meat sometimes, but if we were strictly meat eaters we would have sharp pointy teeth.

Food is around wherever we go. We don't need to limit our to varieties of vegetables only sold in the stores.

How do you think the plant eating animals in the forest survive such as deer. They don't grow vegetables. They eat the plants. Guess what... we can eat those plants too.

If your going to thrive on a raw food diet I believe it's best to eat what is called wild edibles. The fresh green plants, nuts, fruits and berries.

Yes, you can buy these all at your local store but it not the same. Vegetables, especially lose their nutritional value after being picked and stored.

However, there poisonous berries plants out there so it's not wise just to start eating them without educated yourself first.

Green Dean.. on the video has over 120 videos on youtube about different wild edibles that are good to eat.
