Very Eerie...Music that was played on radios throughout the German Reich after Hitler's death was announced.
Just a momentary break from aliens, UFO's, Joo's and everything else.

This is Anton Bruckner's 7th Symphony.
This was played after Hitler's death was announced on the radio.

Most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." - Michael Rivero

I don't think it's eerie, sounds like a typical Bruckner composition common to the romantic period, they should have played Wagners Das Liebesmahl der Apostel, Heh heh.

The "eerieness" lies not with the music itself, but with the association of Hitler's death.

They did play a Wagner composition as well, but there is a difference of opinions as to which one.

Great music. I'm sure this was a different era of propaganda and the choice of using music genre and the selection of the piece was very fitting at the time.

Thanks for the info.

Do you have any idea on what comps of Wagner may have been played?

Bruckner was a Wagner disciple. His 4th and 7th symphonies are some of the finest music ever written in that genre.

Most people think it was "Gotterdammerung" simply because so many documentaries showing the destruction of Germany have used it as a score...plus, the "myth" behind the music drama ("Twilight of the Gods"), where the world ends in a deluge of destruction seems to "fit" mentally with the images of the end of the Reich.

This is the Nazis (the national socialist party of Germany) suffering or mourning their loss of utopia. It is interesting to note that the vast majority of American Jewish people are socialists and have joined in the imposition of a culture w/o ethics - humanism - on the US. In other words, they are following and even funding and enforcing a culture of death; the same one that operated in the Nazi Germany and that operates in communist mass murder nations.

My mom used to call it a bum magnet when women who were abused as children dated and married men who were abusers.

Anyway, historian, thanks for the nightmare memory. I call on everyone who does not want mass murder to stand up for the constitution and outlaw the "living constituion" leftists in the Democrat and Republicans parties have managed to impose on our country. Interesting to also note that the ADL has named those who are for the constitution are "domestic terrorists."

They should have played it for the millions killed after the Wannsee Conference!

What did they play after Brigadefuehrer Jurgen Stoop retook the Warsaw Getto or Stalingrad fell?

Interesting, thank you. In those days they had public radios attached to many buildings, wherever the public could be reached.

Prior to, and leading up to the end of the war, Sondermeldungen (major or special war achievement announcements for the public)PSAs had been broadcast with uplifting march music blaring in advance for hours on these radios.

They are still smart.

Look how Germany flourishes despite the fact their country was in ashes, most of their productive male population and industry gone after WWII.

Not to mention public opinion against them which to some point lingers on today.

I have respect for the Germans and how they rebuilt Germany.

They should be proud now for what they have accomplished after WWII and stop feeling guilty about the sins of their grandfathers which they had nothing to do with.

Did you now?

"It struck me at the time, the thought of the women and children down there. We seemed to fly for hours over a sheet of fire, a terrific red glow with thin haze over it. I found myself making comments to the crew 'Oh God, those poor people'. It was completely uncalled for. You can't justify it. "
