Love Husky's but unless they are properly trained, they are diggers, escape artists, and a bit neurotic.

But personally I would not own either one, because my allergies cannot handle long haired dogs anymore.

Yea. I have looked for her owner to no avail so I'm thinking if I am going to keep her I need to learn about her needs. She has an AMAZING temperament and so far she is good with the other dog. She does seem a little needy (like someone else mentioned). She comes over and taps me with her paw on my shoulder or leg for attention. :)

Re: Malamute or Husky?!?!
That's a malamute. I own one, their facial features are more blunt and squared than huskies, and their legs are much thicker. Definitely a mal, no question.

Both dogs curl their tails.
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.

Thank you!!

The poll results are pretty clear LOL. She is VERY thick that is for sure!!

Any advice from your personal experience?!

edit: Is there some type of esteem issue with the tail?

Thats cool you have another dog...i think the arctic types (huskies/mals) need a "pack"...they get very lonely and can become destructive.

Mine is a major attention whore...total "velcro dog"....he's a great foot warmer though when it gets cold =)

My Mal talked to me all the time, in this hilarious wooo-wooo-wooo Mal language. Seriously, try just sitting down and talking to her. After a time, she may try to emulate the sound of your voice, and it's really funny.

She was extremely protective of me, especially in her later years. Socialization is important!

I wish you both the best.

Damn I miss her.

She was fearless -- she once attacked an *entire hot air balloon* that landed in the open field by my house. She didn't know what it was, but by damn, she was having none of it.

Love Husky's but unless they are properly trained, they are diggers, escape artists, and a bit neurotic.

But personally I would not own either one, because my allergies cannot handle long haired dogs anymore.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 966567

LOL... I have a purebred female Red Husky, about a year old who looks about like your picture without the nose stripe.

She is hte kindest, gentlest, most lovingest dog I have ever had. She's perfectly housetrained. Every night we sit on the sofa and share a bowl of bite-sized shredded wheat and yogurt then go to bed.

She sleeps on the corner of my bed closest to the door protecting me... though she's too kind hearted to do any good. She will not wake me up but quitely sit there in the morning. If I open my eyes though whe will about lick me to death. She has no dog odors either.

On the other hand, I'll take her to the mountains and snow which she abslutely loves!! She requires about 3-4 hours of running, play, and attention every day. If not, she gets micheivious... mishceivious... devious.

She has seperation anxiety pretty bad and is truly heartbreaking to watch her when I drive off. She can get over a six foot fence or dig under it and escpape. Once, she spent hours in a pouring rain digging out a gravelly/rocky esscape under the fence. I got home just as she was about to leave.

She was COVERED in mud. It was hilarious but she was soooo happy to see me. Anyway, if you get a Husky, you'll have one of the best dogs ever... but you better have time and energy for it.
