Why do beautiful women have low self esteem?

My wife is GORGEOUS. I tell her how beautiful she is every day. I tell her how sexy she is, and how beautiful she is on the inside and out.

But she still continues to look up models on the internet and still feels badly about her self image. Shes amazing though!!

and i know a lot of other very good looking women who do the same thing!
(and no i dont say thiss to her so this isnt the reason she has low self esteem im just sayin')

You said it yourself. She's beautiful. Why don't you try complimenting her about her other worthy attributes. If she believes all she has going on for her is her looks, then her looks are all she will focus on for self improvement.

If she has no other attributes worthy of mention... well, you married her, not me and that makes me a happier man knowing my plain wife is wonderful in so many other ways. Intelligence, loyalty, ingenuity, resourcefulness, inner strength, just to name a few.

Oh man... so many factors are in play on that question.

One is simply that they go through life being told they are pretty & end up feeling that their sole worth is on the outside.

Because most women rely on the outside world to give them approval...

They need more than just YOU to tell them they are beautiful...

They need tons of other people out there to reenforce the idea they are attractive before they will believe it..

Because of this they will end up getting screwed over again and again by asshole men until they realize the power they have over men and then they will become the screwer...

It's a vicious cycle

People need to learn to project their own self worth from the INSIDE OUT...

Too many people determine who / what they are based on outside input...

Because most women rely on the outside world to give them approval...

Well, imagine that you've been told your whole life how attractive you are. Not that you're smart, or funny, or good, but that who/what you are is physically beautiful. In a world that values beauty and youth over all in a woman, standing out or maintaining that ideal is a heavy burden. Especially when you see yourself age, or gain a few pounds, or find out that being attractive is something that you never earned; it just happened to you. Of course it all seems so tenuous and fragile.

I blame a society that puts so much emphasis on the superficial instead of encouraging young women to test their boundaries and to be fearless.

Like i said, so many factors come into play with this...

take some of what Trinity said.

As much as you and some others recognize her other qualities, the "world's" feedback also plays a role.

You also have to consider DNA, environment(s) growing up, social conditioning, etc.

Her own behavior seems to indicate that eventhough she recognizes her other qualities, she puts more weight on her outer qualties... since she feels the need to compare herself with models &/or in competition with other women.

It has absolutely nothing to do with you... and as the saying goes, "you can't un-ring a bell."

What's done is done... the only one that can get her to realize that her beauty is much deeper is HER. You can be supportive, but you can't do it for her. Words are empty unless followed up with action...consistantly.

They need to get fucked real bad then..
