In the past 3 weeks, two people I've known have committed suicide...

economic/financial issues are not what makes people commit suicide. Personal issues are.
Sadly, most people have been successfully indoctrinated into believe that both are the same. We are being driven to believe that if you fail financially, everything else fails, and people kinda help each other into believing that, like a chain reaction.
We don't just need a better politic and financial ways to do things. What we really need is to re-learn how to be an Human being, and not just another gear on the huge machine that is society today.
Believe it, the ones that handle the machine don't care about a single gear. It can be replaced.

I have a friend that was caught up the wave of financial murder-suicides in Las Vegas shot his wife before turning the gun on himself; another friend, who recently had heart surgery, is in the process of losing his business, and home to foreclosure has been drinking heavily and gorging on all-you-can-eat buffets, giving away his things which usually precedes suicide.

Am hearing more and more talk of single, aging, second-wave feminists are scared to death of losing their jobs, as 70% of the jobs in the public sector are made-up work for females, suspect to see more coming out of this demographic as the lay-offs accelerate.
