Should I tell the police about my husband's drinking and driving? | |

When he is sober next time, tell him your going to start calling the police on him if he doesn't quit, and then do it if you have to. If he hurts someone, he's going to prison anyway. Why can't he just have a few drinks at home in the evening, safe at home? I hope that helps some. Blessings. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1085395I wouldn't mind it so much if he had a few drinks AT HOME and not every single night. That way, he could come home sober and take care of things that need to be done before he becomes a vegetable. He's done this as long as I've known him.... he just won't wait until he gets home (he has about an hour drive home). He also does it on road trips, etc. |

Try becoming involved with a nice church and get him involved. It is the only cure for alcoholism. And if you go to the wrong church alcoholism is actually accepted. |

Which means they will come after any and all assets that both of you have, doesn't matter if you have children or not... Even if your insurance does cover some cost, if you are sued and you will lose, you are on the hook. Either you sit and tell him that you WILL call the police, or suffer the possible outcome. |

Quoting: Peloria 1140526He has a few good points and we've been through a lot together. I'm just tired of it. I've tried everything over the years and I know that nothing will work. Oh, and I wanted another baby. :-) |

Quoting: AmIaBitch? 986890He drinks EVERY SINGLE NIGHT in the car, on his way home from work. I've had it up to my eyeballs with him showing up at home smelling like alcohol and being completely worthless around the house or showing up at my kid's Tball games smelling like a bar. I'm pregnant again and my raging hormones CANNOT TAKE his drinking because just one beer changes his personality. I don't know that I'm THAT worried about his driving since he's not getting "falling over drunk" on his way home.... it's just REALLY driving me NUUUUUTS!!!!! I can get really mad at him and he'll tell me that he'll stop but it'll be a lie because then he'll just try to hide it (but it's not possible). What'dya think? Let 'er rip. I completely understand, having been there. Ty both of you goiiiing to your doctor or get him into rehab first. Do you really want the embarassment of the police in your family matters? And it is an embarassment! |

His dad, brother, and sister are all raging alcoholics.... my husband is actually the best of them. LOL AHHHHH! |

Until THEY want to change ... it isn't going to happen. I have seen this enough to know that the literature on this is RIGHT ON. How do you make them "WANT" to change? Got me. Talk to your personal Doctor about it. Most Docs keep a list of places that they can refer you to. If you are in a bigger church you can talk to the pastor, and they can refer you out also (small churches don't seem to have the referal thingamjig down yet). You definitely need to talk to a professional about how you can successfully reach out to your husband and help him realize that he has a problem. |
