If you are in a typical large 100K plus population, you

can forget your chances of survival.

When the lights go out there will be huge bands of

marauders appearing very quickly. Virtually no one has

more than 7 days of food or water, most less.

If you can't get outside the city limits before the SHTF,

you are doomed.

Imagine NO LIGHTS.

Practice "getting out of Dodge". Make some basic

preparations, with what you can pack in a vehicle with

your family, the skedaddle... just for "fun".

Even if the lights don't go out, and there is Martial

Law, the FIRST thing "they" will do is shut off egress

to every city.

Once your out of the City then what...? I always hear people say they will get out of dodge. Get out of dodge to where...? Do you really think these farmers are going to hire you and feed you. They have their own families and children and grandchildren. So unless you can turn water into fuel you are completely delusional.

Living off the land in the woods...? Good luck. Even the most die hard well trained survival people know how hard this will be. If you live where there is WINTER your done without property shelter and supplies. Even mountain men back in the day had a CABIN and simple basic supplies put away that they would pack out and up to their mountain cabins where they would hunt all winter and then bring their pelts back down to town in the spring after the thaw when they could get to town to trade for more goods, hang out for a bit and then go back into the woods.

Most of those Mountain Men had very short life spans. Anything can get you out there. They were on Horseback and getting thrown from a horse or your horse dieing somtimes meant you died. Most would also go insane just about with what was called cabin fever. Its very hard to live by yourself and even small groups without outside contact.

Get a grip people. If you do not have a place right now way the fuck off the beaten track with everything already to start over then your finished. Without a rescue from the Government everybody is finished and thats just not going to happen right away. In a big SHTF event it could take years. Years.

I know alot of people don't want to think about this part but you better have a how to die plan also. What if someone in your group is mortally wounded...? Are you going to watch them die a slow death...? What if they are seriously wounded and you have to get going right away move cause the bad guys are coming.

I myself live out in the boonies and have for 12 years by myself already. I am used to being a hermit. The nearest small town of about 3000 people is 30 minutes away. The next biggest city is 60 mins away and the population is maybe 80000. The next biggest place is 3 hours away. If anything happens in the winter months I would be laughing because nobody would make it in here till late spring waiting for the snow to melt. That is when I want things to happen. Winter will slow everybody down and kill off many. Sorry that may sound bad but in a bad SHTF senario one can only hope for anything that would slow down the asses that never planned for shit and now want yours.

You can't wait to plan and you have to have a place to get too. It simply will not work any other way. Your finished fast if you don't. Plan to live now or plan to die. Its as simple as that.

There is alot to think about and people need to think about all the icky stuff too.
