Sunspot 1117 EXPLODED!! Earth Facing!

Are you saying that this DID erupt and it just hasn't been updated (on Spaceweather) yet? I cannot access that feed you posted from my office.

FFS, and all of the spots' dark cores are earth-sized (at least). SPLENDID. I do not know enough about this to determine the size of the flare but I'm guessing it's a biggie.


I rarely post threads. This one makes me a bit nervous Opeth.

1% chance of an x-ray flare occuring right now.
No x-ray was recorded during that outburst. What's going to happen is pretty little lights in a few days. No doom.


Well let's hope that's the case! Honestly, I'd love to see some lights here. Only once in my life had we witnessed the auroras in upstate NY and at the time I was in high school and had little appreciation for what we were witnessing :(

true but they're are usually not coming dead at us. We usually get the tail wind of them

I wonder if this really IS the actual one from the 87(.45) day cycle or if it is just a warm up pitch? It has been exactly 87 days from Aug 1st today...although not sure of the exact UTC time of that flare...lemme check on it.

87 Day CME Cycle. Last one was Aug.1st. Next one to be 87 days from now and so on right up to 2012. Credit a man named Geryl.

yo brah not a direct hit u might want to learn something about solar activities before posting that cme had no indicationof a halo that is the tell tale sign of being earth directed ACE hasn't picked up anything that cme i first noticed yesterday afternoonand posted it in a thread yesterday and btw it was old sunspot 1111 that let that go ACE says nothing that's our early warning detection system as that cme happened nearly 24 hrs ago and if it had a significant speed with it ACE should of picked up data on speed density magnetic properties nothing right now so this has no impact on earth HOWEVER 1117 is mixing magnetic fields I predict it will increase in magnetic complexity and has grown tremendously over the last few days as it stands the 27th will be the perfect opportunity to possibly get hit with a decent size M class flare no guarantee of a CME tho don't forget that aflare doesn't mean CME
