Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147489Wrong again. The LM could not possibly have been tested in earth gravity. It's descent engine didn't have enough thrust to lift it in 1G. |

Or did they cram it in under the foil? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147489It was folded up on the side of the lunar module and unfolded as the astronauts deployed it. Here's a time-lapse video of the process as it actually happened on Apollo 15: [link to www.youtube.com] |

Sure looks like it would help. Hows that stuff held on? Must be good tape eh? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147489is that the foil they used for fireproofing of the steel in the towers? |

ToSeek User ID: 1047203 United States 10/31/2010 11:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What was the stated purpose of the VW? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147489If you're referring to the Lunar Roving Vehicle, it allowed the astronauts to explore a much larger area than they could on foot. And tell me what was learned from the tons of rocks brought back? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147489Top 10 scientific discoveries from Apollo: [link to www.nasm.si.edu] (Don't know how this trope about "tons" of rocks got started - the official figure is 842 pounds/382 kilograms.) |

ToSeek User ID: 1047203 United States 10/31/2010 11:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ok I watched the fake studio footage of buggy building.....why why no telescope? Why bring the VW? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1147489Why this obsession with a telescope? They couldn't possibly have brought one along that was large enough to be better than Earthbound telescopes in visible light. And there's absolutely no point in taking one all the way to the Moon when Earth orbit would be just as good (and probably better) so far as factors like atmospheric interference are concerned. |

On Apollo 16, they did bring a small UV telescope to take UV images that couldn't be taken through earth's atmosphere. UV astronomical images had also been taken above the atmosphere on spacewalks during the Gemini series. |
