Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1132160In a regular residential street/area without a specific good and valid reason then thats a different matter. Exactly. These mobile cameras have been around for years. They have them outside the nightclub in Newark (not exactly the liveliest of places in the UK lol) every Friday for one thing. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 995546Mose fear mongering, woooooooooooooo wooooooooooooooo The 'big brother' thing is real over there. London is slowly but surely being completely covered with cameras. The UK is one of the most non-free places on earth now. I don't even think the Chinese or Saudi's are as hardcore about spying on their citizens as the Brits. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1146705Hmmm slowly but surely - London and most UK cities have been saturated with CCTV for many years now, thats for sure. It's fairly well known that the UK is the most heavily monitored CCTV country in the world and has been for awhile. People get way too much of a bee in their bonnet about this. I don't see the problem with them in city centres as per the above YT clip, or serious crime hotspots, major roads etc, it helps to identify all kind of shitty behaviour, but certainly doesn't seem to serve as much of a deterrant to those who commit such behaviour like many thought and hoped they might. When they start sticking camera's pointing through my home's windows, or in my home, or in my wheelie bin, or out in the wilds of the countryside, then there is definitely a problem and I will get a bee in my bonnet too. Oh that and covert filming which I think is wrong, and there probably is more of that happening than we may realise, but probably mostly in the workplace. |

Most of the places the cameras are placed are (relatively) logical. Some councils have been abusing them though (none near here yet as far I know). |
