Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1151705There are police in my family and knew the K9 handler (friend of the family). When the K-9 dog died of old age his handler was crying. So please stop this K9 police/military dogs rarely die of old age, they are usually euthanized when they are no longer considered to be "useful". I know that was the policy in the US Army back in the late 90s when I was in -- once the dog was deemed unfit for duty it got the needle. To the police and military K9s are just something to be used and abused and then thrown away. |

And depending on the particular AO they were often PTS when the troops were ready to pull out instead of the expense of bringing them back. Shameful. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1130320 United States 11/03/2010 10:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This pig was recently found "not guilty" and will return to his job with years of back pay. Crime doesn't pay ... unless you are a cop! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1151219[link to www.dogster.com] A source tells local news that a police dog died as the result of abuse by his partner-handler -- and Miami-Dade police are investigating the incident. The 4-year-old K-9 named "Duke" collapsed during training on the evening of June 7. Duke was rushed to Knowles Animal Clinic, where he later died. A source told Local 10 News that Duke had barked when he wasn't supposed to during a training exercise at the Miami Dade Training Bureau. He was participating in training with the rest of the K-9 unit. The source said that after Duke barked, his partner Sgt. Allen Cockfield "lost it" and kicked the dog several times. The source said that Duke yelped and then fell unconscious. Cockfield shook the dog, and when he realized the dog was unconscious, he rushed him to the clinic, according to the source. Detective Roy Rutland, a police spokesman, said that the circumstances of the dog's death were not clear. ''We treat these animals as good as we do police officers,'' Rutland said. Veterinarians conducted a necropsy Thursday, but the results have not yet been released. Friday, Miami-Dade police confirmed that they have opened an internal affairs investigation into the incident. Cockfield has been a K-9 officer for 25 years and has had no record of any problems. Sgt. Allen Cockfield is facing charges of animal cruelty and killing a police dog after police say he kicked the dog, named Duke, several times. Cockfield is on leave without pay from the department. His attorney, Doug Hartman, said Monday his client is innocent and will take the case to trial. The trial was rescheduled for Dec. 17. These pigs need to stop using any animals in the line of so called duty. So much abuse for what? They should only have dogs at the border and at customs and that's it. |

crazycanuck User ID: 1000602 Canada 11/03/2010 10:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The correct punishment for this...they should get this officer and stone him to death. I'm sure it would be well accepted if that kind of justice was served on authority figures. Would fill the world with more justice. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1151312Perhaps kicking to death would be more appropriate. Anyone who has ever "trained" an animal knows that while a dog WILL respond to beatings, they will always respond better and more quickly to kindness and gentleness. So it barked inappropriately during training and it sends this guy into a frenzy....what would he do to a screaming baby, which is a damned sight more annoying than a dog barking. Think about that. The guy is obviously short-tempered and loses it easily, he should never have been assigned the K-9 unit in the first place. Police dogs are brave - they protect their human partners, get shot, get hurt in the line of duty - they don't need to be brutalized by the partner that is supposed to look after them. I know a couple of cops here in Vancouver on the "dog squad" and they love their dogs, I mean really love them as you would a family member. Anyone who treats an animal cruelly would just as easily do it to another human being, don't you ever forget that. Poor pup. |

THIS FUCK was NOT one of them, and deserves to work at McDonalds the rest of his life. Just shows what this towns is about. BUT, I must say, charges were brought... Good. The PEOPLE let him off. You can't judge from your pet or human perspective on this one. How would you like it if someone kicked the dog shit out of you for not following orders asshole. if they don't listen maybe they don't want the job . think about that !! |
