Question regarding Female to Male transsexuals

So, my best friend and I are discussing transgender operations today. I personally have never seen what the genitalia looks like after either a M to F or F to M operation.

She tells me that they take the labia and make those into your testicles by shaping them and inserting little round balls and that they enlarge the clitoris for the penis.

So, this brings her to the point where she says that there is still a vagina behind the the balls. That the opening is still there. So I wondered....

Does a F to M transgender person still get their period or does all of the testosterone taken stop that process from happening?
