low rumble in the sky - OC

Bremerton WA near PSNS and Bangor NUC. SUB BASE. Hear it now and cant pinpoint it. over 30 min. now.

I live in SW AR I`ve been hearing rumbles/sky vibrations now for more then a month.They will wake me out of a dead sleep. I`ve also heard them during the day but there`s nothing in the sky that I can see There are no planes, trains or other things around here that could make a noise like that. I`ve also seen jets zip over shortly after the sound would begin during the day. Just never really thought to much of it until I read this post.

The Hum is a generic name for a series of phenomena involving a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming noise not audible to all people. Is anyone still hearing the low rumbling noise? I don't hear it at the moment. (Chicago suburb)

I live in calfornia and i was awoken at exactly 3am prior to hearing this same rumbling at first I thought it might be a foreshock for a quake? Not sure what to think after it stopped and no real shaking. Definitely not a plane.

Heard the rumbling here in the uk a few times yesterday. It is definately not a plane - i live near British Aerospace so i am well used to hearing the sounds of military aircraft being tested - but this is like nothing i have ever heard before. Only heard it for the first time a week ago.

I have been listening to the most intimidating rumble(seemingly coming from the sky) for almost 3 - 4 hours. Now, I am not one to panic or who believes in the weird theories that many believe - ghosts, aliens, etc. Had I not heard this for myself - and so do my kids and neighbor - I don't know if I'd believe it. But it sounds like a jet engine hovering overhead or a long sustained thunder rumble or even an earthquake in the distance. There are no weather issues. Yes, we are not far from the Philly airport, but if we hear rumbling from there it usually lasts only a few seconds. I can still hear the plains when they fly over. They do not sound like that rumbling noise. This has been going on for too long. You can actually feel the rumbling. There has to be an explanation. Anyone?

I joined up tonight because I did a google search to see if there was an explanation for the sounds I have been hearing and I found this thread.

I live on Vancouver Island and have been hearing this frequently lately. I have even heard it during a wind storm of over 100km!

I have started keeping it up during the day now too so I can check when I hear the sound. Its not air craft, at least not ours. Now I am not sure if army flies off radar or not but I never see planes when I hear this sound.

Last year around this time I also heard some really loud wailing type sound that was unfamiliar and scared me to the bone! It was different than this sound we are talking about here and was not common. It was like a wailing siren/wind/trumpet almost like those angels in that movie who take the kids with bunny into space, you know when they open their mouths? It was like that, heard that twice last year and it lasted over 10 minutes each time.

I've been hearing a rumbling noise all hours day and night that I can't even tell which direction it's coming from. It's like a combination of a train, airplane and big diesel engine in low idle parked down the block all at once and it just doesn't stop. I'm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

been hearing it here for a while now.3 days ago it came with a massive electrical storm and there was a purple glaze to the clouds. on the 20th of jan it came with a mini cyclone that went right through my propety.when the cyclone hit the sound was pulsing.

me and the wife heard this same exact situation last night. let the dogs in and heard the noise up in the sky over the house, figured it was a plane passing by..few mins later realized that the sound was still going, uninterrupted. went outside and it was coming from what i would describe as a stationary spot in the sky. It was about 9:30 at night, so it was dark out and cloudy as well, but i could almost pin-point where it was coming from, and it was close. Immediately i could tell this wasn't a plane, the sound wasn't "passing by" or moving, it was a consistent sound, same volume for about 10 mins and then more or less stopped. 5 mins later, it started again for another 10 mins or so. This continued for almost an hour, i would say maybe 5 "waves" of this. Also, during the rumble, there was kind of a higher pitched noise that would turn on and off for maybe 30 secs at a time, i recorded the noise on my iphone with the recorder and it's pretty clear when listening to it through headphones. I called my parents during this as well (to make sure i wasn't crazy) and to see if they could hear it as they live maybe a mile away and they also heard it and considered it to be quite strange and unexplainable as well. The couple times i went outside to further investigate the noise, a few of our neighbors had also made their way outside and were looking up to the sky, after a few mins they gave up and went back inside, but it was obvious this wasn't a common sound or situation that had occured.

oh wanted to add as well, I'm in Marietta, Georgia - just outside Atlanta. This was last night (3/15/11) around 9:15-10:15 at night.

Yea, but at the time you hear it you (or at least me and my family) try to reconcile it to something happening in the area, i.e. in our case we thought it was late night construction (weird late night construction) so didn't think about recording it.

Now that it's becoming a common phenomenom more people will record it.

My husband and I had listened to one that was posted on the tube. At that time he seemed to think it might be cleaning of any oil well by burning it or a propane tank being burned. But, last night he heard it for himself and said it was neither. Fun though several hours after he heard it, we here in Columbus, Ms. had a lot of bad weather. Tornados, 53 miles a hour winds. A lot of destruction. Was just wondering if all this could be tied together some how? Did any one else exprience bad weather after they heard it.

Check this out! Very likely what is causing the rumble sound. I Have been hearing this sound in my house during the day, but never in other parts of my city (when driving around). Then I remembered seeing this video. I also have seen a lot of those fluffly single clouds all over the sky (cumulous?)

HELLO - I FOUND THIS SITE after i did a search for "rumbling in sky" - today is june 14 2011 in miami florida. two days now i have heard rumbling in the sky. please note i am very smart and i know the sounds around me, it is not thunder, lighting, cars. trucks, bikes, planes, trains, explosions, wind, narrow streets, ocean or jets. i heard it yesterday before and after rain but the sounds are not of a thunder storm, i heard it again today also during rain, but again no lighting and just now i heard it again with NO rain. all occasions lasting about 30 minutes. i was thinking it had something to do with the rain, but the sounds sometimes are so deep that i fell it in my chest. i think something is happening, and at a change i will be called crazy, i think motherships are coming into our atmosphere and the goverment knows it. ps: before the sounds started my mom saw 8 trucks full of soldiers carrying at least 20 each, thats 160 soldiers (i think navy) in middle of Miramar, florida. what the hell is happening?

i heard the same thing you are talking about here in ft laud on sunday afternoon and it was the weirdest thing i have ever heard in my 36 years in fl.

from fl to cali and all points in between this is very weird....
