It's been a year since I really started to have my eye(s) opened. One thing I have realized is that there are 2 different kinds of 'people'.

None of us are without fault/sin ~ but most of us do have a conscience ~ though we may have seared them to varying degrees, which effect our awareness.

There is a diagnostic criteria, which if you begin to grasp the significance of it ~ may help in understanding the mentality of those others ~ the one's who do not 'have' a conscience. Of particular horror to me is understanding that they are completely devoid of empathy. They feed off of us, as we are called their 'narcissistic supply source'. This is the diagnostic criteria:

Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements).

Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love.

Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions).

Rarely acknowledges mistakes and/or imperfections.

Requires excessive admiration.

Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations.

Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends.

Lacks empathy: is unwilling or unable to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others.

Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her.

Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitude.

Here's a question in regards to the "broken" people or "narcissists" or whatever one would choose to call them..

Do you think there's an hope for such people? I mean, surely on a certain level, and on a larger scale, the prospects do not look good. However, on a personal level, through adequate insight and motivation to change it; do you think they would be capable of becoming conscious again?

The fallen are rising again.. but do you truly believe that some have fallen too far?

See now, it is somewhat hard for me to believe that a portion of them are not salvageable. As to what drives me to believing that is hard to say.. perhaps blind faith?

Sorry about bringing this back up. I got here a little late, and it's a very interesting topic
