Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
Well there is iconography, symbolism, myth, and archetypes...but then there is also WYSIWYG!

I have been asked to write a book: but on what? Something believable?

Below is an excerpt from one of my first attempts. As a psychology major, can you tell me what I'm doing with my sample and why?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 992437

Well i wish we were long time friends so you can help me write mine. Collaborative effort from someone as descriptive and insightful as yourself would be my ideal business partner, ha!

I will read your excerpt today and look into it more. I have classes today and then an afternoon with the hubby. So, I will be back to speak about it more later.

Programs running simultaneously alongside each other and brought together into the 'one'

Programming codes embedded in all actions and reactions....

int main - as above

end of main - so below

int main()
{
int x;
/* The loop goes while x < 10, and x increases by one every loop*/
for ( x = 0; x < 10; x++ ) {
printf( "%d\n", x );
}
getchar();
}

and it begins again...and again....and again.....

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
I had a dream several years ago that is still vivid to me today.
I dreamed I was in a tall apartment building and there were people laying all over the floor under blankets and sleeping bags and we all knew we were laying there just waiting to die. Somehow I had a view from very high up of the whole world. I saw a darkness starting at one place on the globe and making its way towards us. Everywhere the darkness touched it froze, like solid ice. I knew it was just a matter of time before it reached us, so I just layed down with the others with no fear or panic, just the acceptance that there was no way of stopping the end of the world.
A few days ago I learned about stranglets & ice-nine & wondered if this is how it could end.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 847759

My thoughts on this are....maybe it is that something that NASA said they found in the galaxy. Like a big huge monolith. If it came between us and the the sun everything would freeze instantly.

I receive this from you, thank you. Is that your interpretation of your experience? I admire your diplomacy on the matter. Can I ask, what is your heritage?
 Quoting: Salt & Light

In my opinion, everything in life that is a mystery (like dreams)is best interpreted as allegory. The allegorical interpretation of any dream is always my first understanding of it.

As a real life example of this type of allegorical interdependency that you may never have thought of, consider the relationship between astrology and technology.

Astrology is all about heavenly position, angle, relation, magnitude, level, and interaction of distinct bodies that allege to have the power to control destiny and events.

Now look at this picture of earthly technology in action:

[link to www.ornl.gov]

What is the archetypal difference between an astrological event in the heavenlies and the control panel of a nuclear reactor on the ground? I don't see any except in the visual layout. In both cases switches (planets), knobs (moons), levers (stars) and buttons (comets) move into position, interact, etc (in the heavenlies through an unseen agency and on the earth through a human agency) to affect our lives on some level. To quote from pagan beliefs "As above, so below".

In fact you can take images of the different planets, moons, stars and comets, etc and place them in a linear logical order inside a rectangle of suitable size, and from a distance it will look exactly like "a control panel".

In another example, the elements of any electronic circuit at its most primal level are:

material
quantity
proportion
process
scale
geometry
environment

The same thing can be said for a stone sculpture of the pagan god Dagon. Both are created according to a purposeful design that "forces may be summoned" and "energies made to flow" to effect some desired results.

As a third example, the layout, procedures, furnishings and elements of a modern day microprocessor fabrication lab (fablab) mimic the rituals and sacrifices of a religious temple.

The fablab technicians must first enter an outer court where they take a "purification" shower, and then don their "priestly" caps, masks, visors, cloaks, pants, slippers and gloves.

They then enter the clean room environment (absolutely sterilized and pure) of the main lab where they then must perform procedures according to a rigid set of rules (ritual), including the purifying sacrifice by fire (in a raging oven) of a stone representation of purity and power (a silicon crystal boule).

I could say more but then of course I'd have to kill everybody here at GLP.

For some inexplicable reason I am waxing a bit like Agent Starling, a bumbling and somewhat desperate novice attempting to probe the mind of Hannibal Lector... ha! "Oh, Agent Starling, do you think you can dissect me with this blunt little tool?"

Your heritage is Aboriginal Canadian?

Anyway, here is meager attempt at answering your question regarding your excerpt:

Your excerpt:
***Below is an excerpt from one of my first attempts. As a psychology major, can you tell me what I'm doing with my sample and why?

"Quite frankly, I gave up all hope of ever writing a book decades ago. What you are now reading is not really a book at all; it is, well, a publication in denial of itself. Let me tell you, it is no easy matter locating a publisher willing to print a manuscript that doesn't even exist. But here it is in all its unpublished glory. Needless to say no one ever showed up at any of my booksigning events. Let someone else do the writing. I just can't be bothered anymore.
The writer of the book is a godlike being, but what he writes isnt written, it is ethereal. But, none-the-less writer puts it out there in all of its ethereal essence.

I wasn't always so clearheaded about my own lack of writing skills and here is where my story doesn't begin.

I, like most of you out there, found myself in the unenviable upside-down position of being born March 6, 1956 at the Salvation Army Hospital in Niagara Falls Canada. My mother says I was so cute that another set of parents who happened to be in the maternity ward at the same time wanted to make a trade. Fortunately my mother saw the dark humor of it all, smiled courteously, and held me ever closer to her bosom as she hastily searched for the nearest exit. She also told me that the youngest of my three sisters screamed at the top of her one-year old lungs when I was initially introduced to all as the newest member of the family. That was the first word I ever heard my sister say to me. How else was she to articulate an otherwise inexpressably joyful Kodak moment? I hesitated to sign an autograph for her only because I did not yet have the writing skills to do so.

The baby is special and this can be sensed by others, born in traditional human way, which is viewed "unenviable." Even little sister is overcome and vocal about it. Hesitating to sign the autograph suggests some sense of celebrity innately understood despite the infant nature of the physical body.

They tell me I was a brat when I was young. Always spying and always telling the commander-in-chief of the family whenever I saw any civil or criminal laws being broken inside the home.

Commander-in-chief (father), governor of laws of the family/home.

I was the spoiled one being both the youngest and the only boy. So far I was seeing things exactly as they aught to have been. My parents were slaves and my sisters merely interesting biomasses. Now go get me another glass of cold milk and some chocolate chip cookies and remember I don't like to be kept waiting. From a very early age I realized we lacked sufficient numbers of mirrors in the home (for which to gaze adoringly upon his own image).

Being set above the others in a special way is viewed as accurate treatment. Parents (not of the elite group) are merely workers/slaves and sisters lumps of flesh with no other value than to amuse the boy.

By age 6 two things happened that completely destroyed my worldview and served to humble me: Santa Claus was a fraud and school. What do you mean school? Everything's been fine up to this point. I can take the fat man not coming down the chimney anymore but this education stuff has just got to go. I appealed to my then legal representative about the matter but he was too busy on another case involving employment vs poverty. (father-legal rep, was too busy with work and matters of money)

Worldview was based on santa (mysterious man who brings gifts) and boy's universe being comfortable where it was. School is viewed as annoying new info and forced compliance.

The first day of school I learned about the thousand foot stare. The keeper of the gate was another boy roughly the same age as me but taller and who kept pacing back and forth in front of the locked doors, obviously looking for the denizens of his overturned ant farm.

This part is a bit puzzling, but I think it touches on intimidation from a lesser being and not knowing how to process it.

And there, hidden behind the shadows of an early morning light, IT stood...silent...beckoning...bewildering; IT was - a book! Now don't get me wrong, I had seen books before. My dad had shelves and shelves of the stolen texts (enclyclopedias? hilarious), all neatly categorized according to their respective color scheme. But these books were different. They were - interactive!

Books, other elite beings worthy, of equal plane and at times, intimidating. Not like literal books of stolen consciousness written on page, but active walking and talking books (elite people.)

Forever gone were the days of blissful coloring of text and trapping of insects between pages.

Now the boy has to change from being the god of his home of drone-like lumps of non-special or ungifted flesh and bone, where he can control and manipulate for his own purpose and amusement, to actually interacting with others of the elite group and feeling intimidated and out of control.

These school books were evil. They wanted me dead. Now it was my turn to scream!"***

Seems to me to be a derrogatory metaphor of the story of God/Jesus with a technological twist. Also a play on consciousness. And under all of that, it appears to be the mind of a person with narcissistic personality disorder.

quid pro quo, Dr. Lector

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
I'll post the dream that I posted recently in another thread that didn't get too much attention. Maybe it'll be more use to you:

Had a very vivid dream last year that has always been on my mind, but I haven't really spent the time to write it down. I can close my eyes and still see every detail clear as a bell, but I'm having trouble finding the words to properly get every emotion felt in the dream; so bare with me. I may have run on sentences in trying to describe what I'm seeing. Here it goes:

===========
DREAM START
===========
The dream starts off with me driving from my house with a few of my really close friends to get something at a store in town (about 10 miles away). The air feels different on this day and the sky is overcast. The house I'm driving from feels like my current house, but looks different. There are some aspects of it that are exactly the same but the structure of the house is completely different; the lot my house is sitting on is also unfamiliar.

As we get out of the car when we arrive at a store, I look up at the sky and everything turns to night within seconds (in a quick fading effect, it wasn't like a light switch) and then it fades back to day. The entire sky continues pulsating from dark to light for a few minutes - I can feel a VERY faint vibration every time it starts to fade from one to the other and the vibration carries a very tiny sound with it.

During this time, a huge cyclone type of cloud comes down (it looks like a tornado, but it's not). I can feel my heart starting to race because when it turns dark, the cyclone gets pitch black. Imagine the darkest, scariest clouds you'll ever see during a storm, and that's the color of this cyclone. I feel that this thing carries so much power, that it strikes fear into me. The sky lights up one final time and the cyclone is completely gone, but everything around us seems to have been abandoned. There are stalled cars all around us, and we don't see any people. It's a very lonely feeling I'm getting.

We get back into the car and start to race home, swerving between all the stalled, driver-less cars. It feels almost like my car is the only one working. A few minutes later, we start getting pursued by a couple of other cars that attempt to run us off the road, but they end up spinning out of control off the side of the road in their failed attempt. I get home and park the car and immediately as soon as we get out of my car, the military surrounds us and our home with these very weird barricading vehicles. They are heavily armored hummers, but have been modified to link together when parked one behind the other. This link builds a VERY powerful wall. A soldier steps out of one of the hummers and says, "Sir, don't worry about a thing, we're here to help". I feel comfortable with them being here, but I'm cautious as to why they are protecting me as well.

I walk into my house and see my mom, dad, wife, baby boy, all my friends that were in the car with me, and some other family friends. I start trying to explain what we saw as I walked out to my balcony and started asking if anybody else had seen what we saw. Before I got an answer, I looked to my left and saw a cow standing on it's hind legs and looking towards the distance. I look at what it's looking at, and notice a flock of birds in the distance, heading my way. They start pecking me all over my body, and it hurts, but the cow tells me to be still, that they are ridding me of all my sin to prepare me for being God's soldier and for what is to come. The cow then tells me to drink milk directly from it (unpasteurized milk) so that the cleansing process can be fully complete and then I wake up.
===========
DREAM END
===========

In my other post, someone posted:

So I take it you are a Christian.
 Quoting:

And my response was this:

Well, kinda. If you had to put a label on what I believe, it would be along the lines of a Christian faith, but I hate religion. I believe what I believe and call it my faith, and don't like to associate it with a religion label.

I don't push my belief on anyone and don't consider myself any higher than anyone else. It's a wonderful thing to have a true belief in anything nowadays, so for anyone who has a true belief in something, whether it's what I believe or not is something I love to see.

So again, kinda - but at the same time, not so much.

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
I had a dream.

I was in the clouds with Jesus. He had a conversation with me and as I recollect to this day the things he said though I understood at the time as being spellboundedly wise in nature.

But the only thing I can remember from the conversation was a warning specifically to me. Jesus told me to becareful what I say.

Then he told me to wake up and turn on MTV.

Well I woke up it was still before the dawn. I went over to the TV turned it on and changed the channel to MTV, and this song immediately came on, it was the first time I ever heard it.

Are you interested in "daydreams" as well?

What if someone can't distinguish between what they learned while they were awake and what they learned while asleep.

Are you still interested?

I am interested. Daydreams are lucid dreams and/or visions. Very applicable. Please share.

Not sure what you mean by unable to distinguish what you learned while awake or asleep. Can you elaborate on that?

Thank you for your very detailed description of your dream. I felt as if I was standing starboard and experiencing it right along with you.

Usually, when we dream of our house, the house is a symbol of our selves, most particularly, our minds. This dreams seems very spiritual in nature, and perhaps a first of your callings to come to higher spiritual path. I am not a dream analyst, but like trying anyway. The fading to dark and then back to light seems like a representation of the choice or darkness or light. The forces of darkness are ominous and forecful in your mind. Other fearful scenarios start to unfold as you race back to your house. The military may mean a comfort but is intense in its delivery and are notorious for executing things without much explanation.

Back at your house your loved ones are with you there. The cow thing is similar to a horse image I had in a dream of similar nature. It is comical on some level, the cow, but sinister at the same time. Birds pecking is also mean and diabolical. If there are oppressive demons at work here, this would suggest the influence on this part of the dream, in order to deceive you. Or it could simply be your own psyche interpreting it this way.

Very special dream, very vivid. Was it in color? How old were you when you dreamed it?

Thanks for participating.

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
I was living in a Vision and the following prophetic, apocalyptic message came to me.
When I came out of the Vision, I was talking to my mother about some of the things I saw and knew about the future...and she was judging me crazy and mentally I`ll. She probably won`t remember because she has no memory.
I first asked her if my sister was pregnant yet, before she told me she was. Not too prophetic, and resonably predictable...but...
I then, as I did not know how long I had beeen out of it, I pointedly asked her if Steve had his stroke yet.
My mother is a reject and didn`t know what I was talking about, so while I am talking she is composing her next rebuttal and compassionate speech to her insane son, and requesting that I take medication, instead of fucking listening to what I was saying.
I had a repettive vision of my cousin who was in the seminary, studying to become a Catholic Priest, going up a winding staircase to pray. And the vision repeated a few times and I could see him in his brown robe, tied by a cord and wearing sandals, lumbering up a spiral staircase and praying, as is the tradition of the Capucin Monks.
He has a certified disorder that causes accelerated weight gain, and in essence he is Fat. Pretty Fat. Hes been greatly overweight since his youth. Aside from that he was just an average person.
So, because of the vision I had where I was told, not by sudgestion, or mythical voices, or faries in my head, I was ALONE, fully immersed in a vision, and I was instructed that Steve was going to have a stroke while walking up the church steps.
So I pointedly asked my mother if Steve had had his stroke yet, and got some vague response.
I assumed the vision meant my cousin Steve because of his weight, and also because of the quasi-religious nature of many of my visions.
So, I gave up my inquiry.
Many months later I was at a co-worker, Pauls birthday party, hes both work associate and friend. I have known him forever and he has substance abuse problems and women problems, and fatherhood problems, but he`s a great person, and an excellent person to work with. He taught me a great many things on the job, and about life.
Paul dosen`t like going out in public, he hate it. He hates government, wont get bank account, pay taxes, or credit cards, drivers liscence or even go to the dentist.
And somebody that knew his from before I did, called him Steve. I didn`t really understand WTF was being said because I was wasted, but My Aunts brother was calling Paul Steve.
So, I asked him directly, Tim, did you just call Paul, Steve, or Why did you call paul Steven
And Tim tells me that Pauls real name is Steven, and that Paul is his middle name. As long as I`ve known him and as far as anyone talking to him I only ever knew him as Paul.
So, I was like, WTF, Is your real name Steven.
He admitted it and told me that he hated the name Steve and had forsaken it. He apparently hated the name Steve and told me to never call him by that name.
I have searched my memory form birth, and I can recall things from when I was Three years old, but I have no recollection of knowing his name was Steve, although I get a feint memory that at one point, he may have told me his real name in passing, back 15 years or more previous to this, but it was totally forgotten by me and I only ever knew him as Paul. I couldn`t give him warning or a heads up on the stroke vision because it was already too late.
It diddn`t really click at first, but as I contemplated this I came to realize the vision was not about my cousin Steve, but rather about Paul.
About a month after I asked my mother about the vision of Steve having a stroke walking up the church steps, and a full two months after my visions had ended, I went to my cousins wedding.
Everything seemed cool ,and I was excited that paul actually came out and was there because aside from necessities and work, he don`t go nowhere.
Well, now that I knew his real first name, after the fact,I was completely in shock because at the wedding of my cousin, the Reception was held in a hall accessed through the church, and Paul (Steven) had a stroke walking up the church steps, he was hospitalized, and lost vision in one eye, and has no feeling on one half of his body.
Ipieced it all togather from meory after the fact, and I was dumbfounded beyond belief.

Thank you for your post. I had a similar experience a few years ago. I had a bad feeling that something was going to happen to an Uncle of mine that had been very close to me while I was growing up. This feeling came sudden one day and didn't leave me for weeks and weeks, growing more intense as each week passed.

It seemed as though my Uncle was going to have a serious heart attack or bad accident that would put him in the hospital, something health related, sudden, and very serious. I don't know how I knew it, or where the info was coming from. I think about my Uncle from time to time, fond memories of how he spent time with me as a child. And I have never had psychic feelings this intense about people before. Usually a hunch here and there, or just knowing things, but nothing like this.

After a few weeks I called my father (brother to Uncle) and told him what I was feeling. I asked him to have him go to a doctor to have a physical exam, that I was very worried about him. My father called his sister and they discussed it. Uncle would not go see doctor and thanked me for my concern, but casually brushed it off and paid it no mind.

A couple months later I got a phone call from my father saying that Uncle was very very ill. He had come down with a sudden case of pancreatitis and was near death when his sister came home to find him lying unconscious on the floor in a giant pool of vomit. They rushed him to hospital and had had to stay there for several days. They don't know what caused the pancreatitis and suspect some type of pathogen. It took him some time to recover and it is a miracle that he lived through it considering the dire nature of his pancreas when the doctors found him.

Had a dream last night that I was going shopping in Freeport. It was a nice day and all of a sudden it was raining ash. I couldn't see to drive and I crashed off a bridge into the water. I tried to push the window down to get out but, my arms were frozen.

have you been reading about volcanic activity lately?

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
I would like to hear feedback from all of you regarding your prophetic and/or apocalyptic dreams. I have had several throughout my life, all with the same theme and would like to see if other are having a similar experience.

I am a psychology major so this interests me on a scientific level, but it also interests me on a much deeper level because I cannot attribute these dreams simply to a psychological dilemma or type of human condition. I think they mean way more than that. I have my theory which I can explain later. I plan to include it in my book that I am writing.

I would also like to know if those of you who have prophetic or apocalyptic dreams have also had UFO experiences or other paranormal experiences at any point in your life. Also, please share if you have had severe trauma in your life at some point and if the dreams happened before or after the event.

What do you all think? And if you have had prophetic or apocalyptic dreams, can you describe them here for me?

thanks!!

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
That was a mean meatlovers pizza!

Anyway, I don't analyze my own writings any more than I analyze my dinner before enjoying it. If I did, then I'd probably go down the wrong road somewhere and end up with a completely paranoid meaning behind everything I wrote.

For example, if I started to analyze the phrase "dinner's calling" I might end up thinking that food has the capability of human speech. That doesn't mean my brocolli is not talking about me behind my back because I believe it is. My carrots haven't spoken to me in weeks and I fear my knackwurst is being mum about what it knows about the nightime escapades of my leftover bologna. It is not helping matters any that I've been accused of being a couch potato, though to be truthful I fancy myself to be more like a desktop cantaloupe.

MENTAL NOTE: never place the Vicks Vapo-Rub next to the jalapeno dip!

But this thread is about dreams so how did we get so far astray?

I think it is because I never believed a dream could be interpreted psychologically. One can erect a symbolic logic scaffolding of sorts that more or less embodies the gross geometry of a dream but any true meaning has to meant for someone less inclined to summon the higher cognitive processes of the brain whenever a mystery like a dream is encountered.

I'm thinking that dreams are best interpreted through the eyes of a child. And the spirit in a man or woman is fundamentally childlike if not childish. So maybe dreams are messages for the spirit and the scientific mind is simply butting in because it can.

The spirit already knows the meaning. The mind's job is to convince it that it doesn't know anything at all! Any interpretation the mind gives is simply spam marketing. That way the mind, and not the spirit, remains in control.

Yes, I have had prophetic dreams about the coming Zombie apocalypse. I know in my heart that it it coming soon. I have stocked my bunker with 3 shotguns and hundreds of shells. People think I am crazy but didn't they think Noah was crazy for preparing for the Great Flood? Hmmm?

Anyway Jesus has warned me and I am ready.

Are you interested in "daydreams" as well?

What if someone can't distinguish between what they learned while they were awake and what they learned while asleep.

Are you still interested?

I am interested. Daydreams are lucid dreams and/or visions. Very applicable. Please share.

Re: Anyone experiencing or have experienced prophetic/apocalyptic dreams? (NEW DREAM 2/21/11)
I'll share a bit of them:

I was in my own appartment with a close friend. As we were talking or so, we hear some bangs in the distance. I ran to the northside of my apparment and see several large bombs/comet like things approaching very fast in the air. I thought the other side of the appartment could be safe, but no, a lot of these skyrocket things coming fast. The explosions became louder fast and the whole building trembles heavier and heavier. I was going to die and I knew it, I sat down holding my arms over my head foolish trying to protect it and wait for death. An enormous blast occured and sounded and felt, then shrieking and peeping trying to breath waking up.

The other one was that we had to run like antilopes because something big was coming on very fast. I did not know what it was, but I kept running with those people. We ran into a very solid and large building, hundreds of meters in height. Of course the lift did not work which gave extra pressure and stress. After many stairs we reached the roof. We watch with great speed a tsunami running our way. Luckily the waves did just not reach the top of the building. Water and waves bursts agains the building, which begins to tremble very heavy, causing the fall of several people plunged in the waves. From nothing my mother appears in the scene, telling me not to take it anymore and wishes to jump in the water before the building collapses, and in a sudden does so, leaving me screaming and going crazy, that last shock did wake me up in terror.

Actually, everyone DID think Noah was crazy for building the boat when those people have never even seen rain... ever. There was no rain in their region before.

I think its great to prepare for anything, however, a zombie apocalypse is probably low on my worry list.
