On the 8th I sent a buddy an email to watch around the 11th for an increase in activity, possibly big hits for the next 3-4 days. I haven't checked to see if the coronal hole is still behind 1121. Also, Earth/Sun connectivity shows us scooting in a path up across to the left of 1121 as we rotate thru.

I really think 1121 and 1123 are going to connect. Remember 1121 did it last timearound while still being called 1112 (unless my memory fails me?).

Weird

Not weird but sometimes it means a large storm is coming in. I don't think there's any coronal hole there. These seem completely normal images of a large sunspot split in two and possibly disintegrating. As to the other graphs, we had a small, very small "CME" today, thus the graphs. Proton to 12 is all, moderately deep bz, a little wind after the fact. typical, no big deal.

I have no idea in they are expecting a larger CME or not. I am behind a few days on that stuff. Haven't checked Stereo A and B for well more than a week.

I know it does'nt need any black lines :), the black lines were in the first image, were they arms on the sat.?The enlarged image did'nt have them and I was questioning why.

1121 was supposed to be decaying, but it looks like it's connecting with 1123. It did the same thing first time around, and grew larger and stronger again, if I remember it's history correctly.

I'm only a novice, but to me it looks like they are magnetically connected. 1123 gave off most of the activity yesterday, with a little activity from 1121. I think they are in the process of forming a filament. I could be wrong, what do you think?

Took spaceweather a little while to catch up!
As I said, sunspot 1121 and 1123 were connected and merging. It did this last time around too! Not bad for a novice ;), the big wigs in NASA and Co. said 1121 (AKA 1112) was decaying!

CRACKLING SUNSPOTS: Sunspot complex 1121-1123 crackling with C-class solar flares, producing more than five such eruptions in the past 24 hours. With so much activity going on, it is easy to catch the region in mid-flare, as Michael Buxton did this morning from his backyard observatory in Ocean Beach, California:

"I set up my scope and right away saw that AR1121 had unleashed a C-class flare," says Buxton. "This image shows the flare in hydrogen alpha light (the red glow of solar hydrogen) at 1754 UT just after it peaked in xray output."

I think sunspot 1121 (AKA 1112) forms symbiotic magnetic connections to any sunspot around it to keep going. This is the 2nd time it's done it. I would be supised to see it survive another revolution of the sun,with another new number assigned to it!
