Strange Jet Sounds in Michigan

I'm in south East Michigan and I'm hearing the strangest jet sounds tonight.

At first I just figured they were flying low, but I can't see em' at all. I'm only 15 minutes out of Detroit so I am really close to the airport and I'm used to hearing planes all the time.

I let it go for a while, but it's annoying now; which alarms me because I actually noticed. They sound like big jets, not military jets, but I'm not in the military so I really can't confirm that.

The jet engines are stopping and going...and stopping, and going...now, I know this is normal sometimes to hear them boost but this is crazy. I am literally hearing them stop/come to a hault in what seems like midair and start up.

It's been going on for about 30 minutes. Anything weird going on where you are or is there some news I'm missing? It's really overbearing and obnoxious.
