Red, orange, and blue. This star is straight left of Orion's belt. Any idea what it is? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1161954Capella |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1012864 Canada 11/12/2010 12:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is Saturn's rings eminating if you are seeing what I have been. It's bright but it is flashing colors. almost like an LED Ambulance off in the distance if you look close. Quoting: sentinal (offline) 1149758I think he is referring to something different as I have seen the same thing for about 2 weeks now and it sure as hell ain't Saturn. It stands out instantly as the color is very different from all the other stars in the sky. It seems to be flashing and almost cycling between 3 colours (Red/Blue/White). Looks very artificial. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 865798 United States 11/12/2010 12:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | .. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1158236Could be the ISS. .. No, I've seen it off and on for about a year or so...it doesn't move in the sky. It is fairly bright. Not as bright as Venus, but bright...like a star in the Big Dipper. But, it 'flashes' in different colors. Quick flashes... I'm in Tennessee OP, I look for it tonight. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1161983 United States 11/12/2010 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am near the Eastern shore and have recently noticed it. I lokk up at the stars every night and don't recall seeing this until about 2 weeks ago. At first I thought it was a plane or something.... Then I thought UFO... Lol... But it doesn't move and it definitly shows 3 colors blinking ... Red, blue, and white. My husband even made mention of it last night. It isn't like anything I have seen before! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1132160 United Kingdom 11/12/2010 12:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's Sirius :) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 519007This. Sirius is just off to the lower left of the belt (following the diagonal line of the belt to the left). I doubt the OP is referring to Betelgeuse as it is itself part of the Orion constellation. |

It was flashing red, blue, orange, green, and white. No one has ever seen a perfect circle, nor a perfectly straight line, yet everyone knows what a circle and a straight line are. Perceived circles or lines are not exactly circular or straight, and true circles and lines could never be detected since by definition they are sets of infinitely small points. |

Quoting: Prisoner of TechnologyIt was flashing red, blue, orange, green, and white. It's the bright star Sirius, an the colors are diffraction from turbulent atmosphere at altitude. When it's down low, its more pronounced since the light has to go through more air than later in the evening when it's higher up. |
