When a large enough astroid hits it actually cooks the ntire earth because of all the debris that goes up and comes back down cauing friction. This is what they think actually killed the dinosaurs...not the actualy impact or the earthquakes or the tidal waves but the cooking of the atmopshere. The only safe place would be orbiting the earth until the cooking stopped....  |

What you say makes perfect sense especially given the fact that many nations (Russia, Sweden, Finland) have been and are currently actively building a large contingent of underground bunkers for their populations to use when the time comes. The Leonids Meteor Shower is supposedly already in progress (early) and it is set to peak on Nov. 17, 2010. I just finished reading the post on the Can missles and before I read this thread I had the same thought. I started the "Official Fireball and Sonic Boom" thread for this reason if you check the postings there you will see that there were quite a flurry of siteings April through Aug then they subside only to pick up markedly in the last month or so. The current siteings seem to be much larger and closer and yet none have seemed to land in areas greatly populated. The missle firings which apparently never seem to land could well be an attempt to derail a disasterous hit. The other interesting thing to note is that there has been no reaction from ANY MAJOR FOREIGN POWER in regards to this. One would think either the Russians or the Chinese would be screaming about these launchings which leads me to believe they were informed and concurred. |

But 1.2km isn't an ELE thats more like 60kms. But they will be doing this kind of thing in the future more anyway they have said they will. Whether or not these were actual threats from NEO's we will never know. But im glad they are doing it they should have been doing this testing preparing for this long ago. Asteroids are the biggest threat to Earth and human civilization. |
