...and on that thought (hispanics of America), I took a trip recently to the southwest. I met a guy, Chavez. Nice guy, good station manager. Definitely a guy that would check "Hispanic" on his "card".

But, the county (Chavez county, New Mexico) was named after his family. So, I (ignorantly) asked how many generations he'd been American. His reply shocked me: 17. His family had lived and worked in and around Chavez county New Mexico since the 1600s.

You people don't understand about the southwest and California. Before you start getting all worked up about "hispanic" percentages of the schools, understand that we, the white European decent people, are more the immigrants there. I'm as American as can be, however, if you call me a German American I'll tell you you're full of it. But, I'm only a 3rd generation American. My family came here in the early/mid 1800s. Chavez has 200 years on me!

So, stop spreading this bullshit. BTW, Chavez is just as pissed about these illegals as any white person. Yet, not only does he look like them but he SOUNDS like them!!! ...yet, he knows like two words of spanish.

Isn't that the case in most American cities as well? I teach in the northeast. The student pop is 76% Hispanic (mostly Dominican).

Now, those who say 'who cares?' and 'racist' - think about how our educational standards are deteriorating. They are and it's partially because we have to meet our students' needs. All of my students have remedial skills. They read (in English and Spanish) at a 4th-5th grade level (I teach high school). This is partially due to them being 2nd language learners with literacy deficits in their first language. It's also due to coming from a culture that celebrates music, dance and sports more than literacy.

Its our country we stole it fair and square.

every paper the public schools in cali print has to be in english and spanish, and i think its more than 50%, its like 70%.

Do you see why California is over 16 Billion in the hole? Do you understand why border security is so important? All these people do is mate and gyrate until the food and social services dry up. Yes it would be better if it was 50% white. You'd know that if you would just take a minute to look at the different group statistics. Hispanics have lower average IQs than whites, higher welfare dependency rates, and higher crime rates.

California, USA um DSA Divided States of America

Being half Mexican, I can say that I know the culture. Most of the time, it is tradition in Mexican families to focus on work instead of education. Children are expected to support their families and their parents especially.

It will be interesting to see if Mexican parents actually get involved with education. If it does, it will be a long way out.

Koreans are great Americans! Law abiding and a true sense of entrepreneurship! You don't see Koreans breeding like hamsters and sucking up social services. They have children responsibly when they can afford to raise their children correctly.

I agree, my family has been in Texas since before it separated from Mexico. I speak English very well, and I know Spanish. A lot of people when speaking to me on the phone, without meeting me, think I am white. I've been employed since I was 16 and I am college educated. Paid for by myself.

Illegals bother me. A lot of them are hard working people, but a lot of them are trouble makers as well. If you are in another country please take the time to assimilate! That is my thought on it. They kill hogs in their backyards in plain view for Easter and get drunk and start fights on Christmas and New Year's Eve. At least they could stay out of trouble and quit bringing this bad perception to all hispanics. It makes us appear as a nuisance.

How are these strong family values? In fact, Hispanics as a group are worse than white Americans on just about every scale of what you would define as "family values".

So the TV has lied to you and the rest of this country when they repeat this same "Hispanic family values" myth. It's not true. And it's obvious that it's not true if you would just use your own two eyes and look around you.
