Anyone know anything about this old military uniform?

It looks kind of too new. In those days, dyes were not so bright, etc. I would question it's age.

If it was directly in your family, then that's a plus on validity. Perhaps, a museum can assist in your questions. If it is truly what it is, it is worth a lot of $ to collectors. New, especiallly. If it was calvary, wouldn't the enlisted soldier have to wear it for awhile during term of duty and it would get battle fatigued, faded, torn, etc.?

I was told it's an 1890's Calvary uniform. It was my great grandfather's. What is the value of a uniform like this that's in perfect condition?

It has the jacket (all the buttons), pants, hat, and shin guards.

I would say that's correct. The only thing that I questioned is the size of the Sargent stripes. Others I have seen are larger. But, this does look like a dress type uniform from that era.
The last time I saw a uniform's in this condition, it was estimated at $1500-$2500. I wish I had my grandfathers WW1 tanker uniform....he was in the very first tank corp.

Glad you don't want to sell. I'd suggest loaning it to a local museum - they'll research it for you as well as preserve it.

It'd be nice if your great grand children could look at it in 80 or so years.
