I thought the arguments presented earlier were very convincing that they did attempt some kind of ignition. The reason given by NASA for crashing the probe into Jupiter, "to keep Europa from getting contaminated", sounds like a deception. How was Galileo supposed to get to Europa from Jupiter orbit? It was like they suddenly treated the probe like a piece of junk that they just thought they needed to be incinerated... I don't think they offered a better reason for nuking Jupiter, did they? |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 990606 United States 11/18/2010 07:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's important to understand that when using L3 you are analyzing the movement of the core of Jupiter, its true rotation period, so we are dealing with a deep internal event when these things correlate with L3. We have antipode discharge in L3, now June 3 discharge happens to be new SEB disturbance point. These are huge coincidences! |

"Ra, was the god of the heaven, and Seb the god of the earth, and Osiris the god of the Underworld." SEB (GEB) was "god of the earth"... hehe Just another curiosity... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 860383thx very much Yes, I will try. NASA stealthily inserted plutonium-oxide into Jupiter in a protected mode, it was shielded well behind Galileo insertion probe heat shield and survived entry on 12/7/95. On top of that each pellet they inserted, 15 in all, was itself heavily protected from the elements. In fact, the individual shields had the highest melting point available on earth. Each 15 of these pellets survived entry and have been drifting down to 80-90% of the entire depth of Jupiter WITHOUT MELTING because the PRESSURES of Jupiter increase faster than the TEMPERATURES that go with that pressure increase and because of that physics says the reinforced carbon casings holding the plutonium pellets did NOT melt and stayed intact. The carbon 'equation of state' diagram will show this and its specific melting heat also helps in this regard. So, once one of these pellets dropped far enough its contents went supercritical (part 238 Pu, part 239 Pu) because the pressure was around 30,000,000 bars and even though the amount was small, 2.7 grams, the compressing and pressure as well as the phase 7 change of plutonium allowed a fission reaction to blow at about 1 billion Kelvin temp. This immediately cascaded to a fusion reaction because the temp. was so high, it had to. Since Jupiter has the right ingredients, liquid metallic hydrogen, the right pressure, 30 to 40 million bars, all that was needed was a tremendous temperature increase since it can only reach 35,000 K by itself. Once it's started fusion, Jupiter can hold it. In fact, only about 2 million bars is required to hold a fusion reaction from petering out. So we have fusion ongoing inside Jupiter and when this first happened it sent out a blowout bubble from the initial reaction. We saw this pop out on July 19, 2009. When it first started, this bubble was moving 100's of miles per minute, but then it slowed down to about 75 mph by the time it exited, so initially it burst upwards to go to the nearest surface, but soon was moving with the fluid flow of Jupiter's depth when it lost its own momentum; still, as hot as it was and less dense than its surrounding, it eventually popped out with a bunch of carbonized (burned) material from deep inside Jupiter. Once this fusion reaction hit the center of Jupiter, it sent out a antipodal electrical discharge which we saw on June 3 and August 20. One side was short and had less resistance than the other side. Jupiter is electrically conductive until its upper 10,000 miles where it turns insulative instead. This held up the discharges from blowing to the top until enough charge was built up. So, now we are seeing new hot spots pop up, where? On the SHORT side that we talked about, that's where we would expect to see the first effects of convection of heat from the ongoing fusion reaction deep below. Although fusion can only sustain deep below, the heat effects propogate up. Since the temp. difference is so high, new 2 million K vs. the old situation of 20,000 K below, this causes the heat to propogate fast. 1 to 3 years seems logical for this heat to manifest itself at the surface. That's where we are at. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1177231 United States 11/28/2010 10:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Very interesting. I read about the Jupiter ignition many years ago and followed some events that showed it might be happening. However, I am a plain man with no background in this so I am curious as to what your take is on the future of Jupiter in light of these events. Thanks. |
