you must understand that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for your safety and the police are under absolutely no obligation to protect or rescue you--and this is as a result of multiple lawsuits--judicial decisions.

secure your windows and doors and start thinking exactly like the criminals do--they even stalk around and get in when people are in the bathroom or taking a shower--try and have somebody to literally watch yer back and be on alert.

dogs are good as they will defend THEIR home,property and people and serve as an alarm at the least,or if big enough--be "man stoppers"
and of course they could be shot and this would be their ultimate act of loyalty and dedication GIVING YOU the seconds to escape as well-
I would never enter my home without seeing my dogs greeting me at the door,the same way if someone pushed in with me,the dogs would take over letting me get out of the way -all family members were instructed the same and understand THEIR lives depend on THIS--let the dogs do what they have to do and get the hell out.

Well, the way I see it, I won't be shooting anybody that DOESN'T bother me or mine. As long as everyone does the same, all these armed Americans will be just fine. I have heard many, many people opine about how people will shoot everybody in sight, as if a gun is some sort of evil talisman that renders the person that picks it up completly senseless, or completely evil. Neither one is true. There have been no blood baths in bars and restaurants here in Arizona, neither have their been massive shootouts by constitutional carry supporters.
As for home security, well, best bet is a dog, and secure your home as well as you can. I have two dogs, neither "man-stoppers", but they will let me know if anyone enters a certain perimeter near our home. Doors deadbolted, frames reinforced, windows secured, small thumbscrews into holes in metal frames, glass reinforced with 8mm security tint. Makes it harder to get in, and much nosier. Plenty of time for some of you to arm yourselves and prepare to repel boarders. For myself, of course, I would never own a gun, much less several. I would depend on the "gummint" to protect me and mine, just like a good little sheep.

Well when the Chinese invade your pathetic little country and you all capitulate to your new masters. We here in the USA will have a fighting chance. And after we kick their ass. maybe we'll come and save yours.

Yeah! I finally came to the realization that WHAT THE FUCK GOOD ARE AN ARSENAL OF GUNS, LOCKED UP IN A GUN SAFE WHEN YOU NEED THEM??

In fact, if you HAVE a real nice collection of weapons, HEAVEN HELP YOUR STUPID ASS IF YOU DO GET HOME-INVADED and the thieves get hold of your safe/guns, before YOU do!

So now, there's a concealed gun everyplace we normally sit in the house, office, and even out in the garage and in the back. And we rely on the dogs to give us those precious few seconds when we might not be actually next to a grabgun.

Surprisingly, our feeling of home safety has increased dramatically, even though we've never consciously worried about breakins or home invasion, etc.

Keep a juice bottle filled with ammonia handy, that'll take the fight out of anyone IMMEDIATELY.

my wife and I spend most of our weekends camping and shooting out here in colorado.never worried about crime before,,,but now if someone knocks on the door after dark I always have a colt 1911 in my hand out of sight when I open the door. crazy? hell no. kids grown and gone,so if someone comes knocking after dark it's some fool trying to sell me something or trouble knocking. don't knock on my door after dark. we have a system in place, she stays in the bedroom by the 357, I go to the door with the 1911.
