maryjaneshusband User ID: 357606 United States 11/18/2010 02:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This will never happen. Just think about it for a second. Do you know how much freight comes into this country every day? I guess I could see them banning them from all commercial flights but there would still be stuff coming in on cargo planes. I get my energy from my inner chi. I be in outer space, but I got inner peace. - Lupe |
maryjaneshusband User ID: 357606 United States 11/18/2010 02:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The TSA is not demanding it. Fedex, UPS and DHL are all business as usual. I get my energy from my inner chi. I be in outer space, but I got inner peace. - Lupe |

Quoting: Rev-boanything under that and it won't work. No shit! This policy sounds like it was dreamed up by some low-rent bureaucrat with about a 7th grade education. What happens when the next bomb comes in a USPS package weighing 15 ounces? its not about terrorism! its all designed to further control the ampeop. thats what it is all designed for anyway. |

I totally agree that it seem impossible for them to do this in a widespread manner and enforce it without causing a total collapse of commerce here in America. Now that I have said that, remember that their goal is to bring America down and you, like me, might fear they would just do it. |

Quoting: FloridaCaveDiverHe won't pin my threads, never does. I thought GLP took pride in being first to break news like this. This story will be very big when the right people get wind of it. I believe that it seems like the response "they can't do that" is prevalent after reading about this. How long until they force DHL/Fed Ex and such comply? Will there be another "incident" to seal the deal and push this through world wide? |

How many of you realize that MOST US COMPANIES AND ONLINE STORES WILL NOT SHIP ANYTHING TO A NON-US ADDRESS? In other words, 'foreigners' are totally excluded from most US shopping. In this way US business (with a few exceptions such as Amazon) deliberately prevents over 6 billion foreigners from shopping in the States, and this despite your staggering trade deficit. So you can no longer get parcels from Japan? boo fucking hoo Over the years there have been HUNDREDS of items I haven't been able to order from the States that aren't available here. Hold on a sec while I go get my violin. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1156141 United States 11/18/2010 09:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That one article said that Fed Ex/DHL and such haven't complied yet. The key word is yet. Quoting: Old MoneyIt will be interesting to see them attempt to roll this out in lots of other countries. The other thing to remember is that there is an exemption for mega corps etc. that are registered I guess. It will hurt small commerce and individuals. Goodbye ebay purchases from abroad. Maybe Fed Ex/DHL/UPS will merely ship the package by air to Canada or Mexico, truck it over, and then put it back on a plane. If Fed Ex/DHL/UPS can't handle an air package over a pound to the US by air then their extensive air fleets that are dedicated to air freight coming into the US, particularly from Asia, will have to be grounded. Things you never think about are shipped into the US mostly by air. This includes virtually all laptop computers, most video cameras, and most digital cameras (and of course the list is much longer than that). It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next week ... but I am sure Fed Ex and UPS in particular will be screaming bloody murder if they can't fly any packages over a pound into the US. |
