China is the *new* US. History repeating, pay attention.
Late 18th/early 19th century we had the Industrial Revolution.

China just had their own industrial revolution. Hence all the "made in China" stickers on everything.

Next, WW1. Imperial powers fighting. The US stepped in to help and for doing so became a world superpower.

We're seeing that now but with currencies instead of bullets and bombs. This is where China will earn its superpower rank. Also, like during WW1, across the world there is internal strife within the powerful countries.

Followed by economic depression in the US.

China will and is facing difficult economic times if the US cannot pay our debts. And we can't. They know this, they are not stupid. They will have to face this.

Now we have WW2 in the timeline. Many would argue it is how the US pulled itself out of the depression. The war machine brought jobs and money. We didn't have to depend on exports, we were exporting war.

Is this how China will pull itself out as well? If so, who do you think they'll be waging war with? The country who can't pay them back? The country who just had something launch off its coast and a jet fighter go down in Alaska perhaps? War is their out. Just like it was our out in days past.

Take a look around. China has how many men with no women available to marry? How many soldiers? They are losing part of their export economy anyway (we can't afford to buy all their stuff) so they will have to create an internal demand. A war economy.

Lather, rinse, repeat. Except faster. It took decades for all of this play out for the US. With the way time seems to be speeding up, with the compression of repeated events crammed into smaller and smaller cycles as we move towards 2012, don't you think this is highly likely in the near future?

Just kicking around some thoughts and noticing a lot of parallels.

There's no question we'll lose our spot at the top. The question is will be fade out like the British Empire or crumble to dust like the Romans?

I think we're more likely to be like the Soviet Union...breaking up into republics, scientists selling intel secrets and weapons on the black market, and all that jazz.

Stop buying made in China shit.

They had 2 sets of pots and pans.

a 14 piece set made in the USA. 130.00
a 14 piece set made in China. 125.00

Saw 2 people walk up look at the prices and pick the ones made in China because they were FIVE dollars cheaper.

I bought the set made in the US. 5 dollars not much of a price increase anyway. I feel glad knowing the money is staying in the US.

Buying their stuff so they can attack us is no better than our government selling them stuff so they can attack us.

China hasn't won a war against Russia, so we'll see about that . The only country China has gotten to is Tibet.

We'll talk about ''Chinese power'' when China can actually reclaim Taiwan on its own. Right now the Americans are funding Taiwan with weapons !!

Perhaps WE are China's Russia.

And China could reclaim Taiwan if it wanted to do so but they are smart, they wait because they understand the importance of timing. Technologically they are more advanced than Americans want to admit.

What do you do when you're a highly populated country with hundreds of millions of men with zero chance of finding a wife because all the girls were aborted?

You raise one heck of an army.

China has been on top before, at the time of the 1st emperor they ruled the known world. They revere their history and think they are just regaining their rightful place.

Make no mistake, China wants to rule the world....and beyond.
They are already harboring internal plans to be first in securing and exploiting off-planet near space opportunities.

Yes, the biggest mistake we could make is underestimating them. ITA.

We are taught to kind of dismiss them as backwards, not advanced, etc. and really, how do we know what they can/cannot do? Think they're sharing their top secrets with the world? Think that over the decades they haven't been able to find any decent scientists? That they haven't been spying or gleaning information? They seem capable of hacking into our government computers without a hitch. They aren't doing that for fun, more like for intel.

Very soon, the sheer numbers of middle-class Chinese with money to spend on stuff, will over take that of the entire American population.

China has over 1.2 billion people, with 23% (276 million) defined as middle class. Put America and Europe's populations together, double it, and you still haven't reached China's population. LOL

My point - very soon they won't need middle-class Americans or Europeans to buy their stuff, they'll have enough to sustain themselves.

The scales tip more in favour towards China every day. Every day she strengthens ties with other failing countries, because she is cashed up, has amassed huge resource reserves, not to mention cornering rare-earths. China soon will not need the western markets - it is just a matter of time.

The other factor people forget, is if China is backed into a corner as a result of further quantative easing (printing more money and devaluing the dollar) - what is to stop her from nationalizing all foreign industry and technology on her soil?

Anyway, if you are interested in reading more about how a 'communist' country has a three-class system, go to:

When push comes to shove, I think one will see that unlike China, the U.S has all the resources it needs. Money or debt is irrelevant.

The U.s can be self sufficient, and what they don't have is easily accessible from Canada or Mexico. By Road.

China rely in imports, much of it via slower (and easily severed) sea shipping.

America has Canada and Mexico for neighbours. China is surrounded by Russia, India, Japan, and dodgy SE Asian nations.

China is not as powerful as people like to make you think they are. They are in a very tenuous position.

But always remember............

This is not a China vs U.S situation on this planet.

It is a humanity vs Big Government/ Big Corporations situation. Don't let them fool you with the nationalism card

Yes, exactly. A war economy would turn them into what the US was during WW2. A powerhouse of an economy and possibly "the" major player on the world stage. Manufacturing for military would provide them with jobs. The "extra" men can go fight, those at home create the consumer driven economy the US once had.

The parallels are really interesting to me. It's how the US was "built". Now it's happening in China.

I agree with the bolded part. I do think there is more to China than we are led to believe. That said, they are not our "enemy". We have to walk a fine line, though, and not be fooled by the global corps and their puppet politicians. I don't know how we're going to do that while the corps maintain so much control...we live in interesting times. A war with China would be sheer lunacy imo. The wars seriously have to stop. It's 2010. We aren't cavemen. We should have the ability to solve disputes by now without sending in a group of men with guns and bombs. It's barbaric.
