The question is will be fade out like the British Empire or crumble to dust like the Romans? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1128329I think we're more likely to be like the Soviet Union...breaking up into republics, scientists selling intel secrets and weapons on the black market, and all that jazz. |

I bought the set made in the US. 5 dollars not much of a price increase anyway. I feel glad knowing the money is staying in the US. |

The only country China has gotten to is Tibet. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1168405We'll talk about ''Chinese power'' when China can actually reclaim Taiwan on its own. Right now the Americans are funding Taiwan with weapons !! Perhaps WE are China's Russia. And China could reclaim Taiwan if it wanted to do so but they are smart, they wait because they understand the importance of timing. Technologically they are more advanced than Americans want to admit. |

You raise one heck of an army. |

They revere their history and think they are just regaining their rightful place. Make no mistake, China wants to rule the world....and beyond. They are already harboring internal plans to be first in securing and exploiting off-planet near space opportunities. |

We are taught to kind of dismiss them as backwards, not advanced, etc. and really, how do we know what they can/cannot do? Think they're sharing their top secrets with the world? Think that over the decades they haven't been able to find any decent scientists? That they haven't been spying or gleaning information? They seem capable of hacking into our government computers without a hitch. They aren't doing that for fun, more like for intel. |

nexuseditor User ID: 1161694 Australia 11/19/2010 09:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Very soon, the sheer numbers of middle-class Chinese with money to spend on stuff, will over take that of the entire American population. China has over 1.2 billion people, with 23% (276 million) defined as middle class. Put America and Europe's populations together, double it, and you still haven't reached China's population. LOL My point - very soon they won't need middle-class Americans or Europeans to buy their stuff, they'll have enough to sustain themselves. The scales tip more in favour towards China every day. Every day she strengthens ties with other failing countries, because she is cashed up, has amassed huge resource reserves, not to mention cornering rare-earths. China soon will not need the western markets - it is just a matter of time. The other factor people forget, is if China is backed into a corner as a result of further quantative easing (printing more money and devaluing the dollar) - what is to stop her from nationalizing all foreign industry and technology on her soil? Anyway, if you are interested in reading more about how a 'communist' country has a three-class system, go to: [link to www.chinadaily.com.cn] |

Quoting: nexuseditorWhen push comes to shove, I think one will see that unlike China, the U.S has all the resources it needs. Money or debt is irrelevant. The U.s can be self sufficient, and what they don't have is easily accessible from Canada or Mexico. By Road. China rely in imports, much of it via slower (and easily severed) sea shipping. America has Canada and Mexico for neighbours. China is surrounded by Russia, India, Japan, and dodgy SE Asian nations. China is not as powerful as people like to make you think they are. They are in a very tenuous position. But always remember............ This is not a China vs U.S situation on this planet. It is a humanity vs Big Government/ Big Corporations situation. Don't let them fool you with the nationalism card |

A war economy would turn them into what the US was during WW2. A powerhouse of an economy and possibly "the" major player on the world stage. Manufacturing for military would provide them with jobs. The "extra" men can go fight, those at home create the consumer driven economy the US once had. The parallels are really interesting to me. It's how the US was "built". Now it's happening in China. |

I do think there is more to China than we are led to believe. That said, they are not our "enemy". We have to walk a fine line, though, and not be fooled by the global corps and their puppet politicians. I don't know how we're going to do that while the corps maintain so much control...we live in interesting times. A war with China would be sheer lunacy imo. The wars seriously have to stop. It's 2010. We aren't cavemen. We should have the ability to solve disputes by now without sending in a group of men with guns and bombs. It's barbaric. |
