Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1150609 Canada 11/21/2010 11:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | well i've looked up the value of some of them on abesbooks which shows the average value and rarity. Several of the books have a quote from Isaac Watts referring to the importance of returning the books to the Lodge. There is a series of twelve books on the history of Rome that were actually printed in 1721 and hand signed by the author J.Swan. Quite interesting. I'd hardly consider throwing them on the bonfire or selling them... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1118155"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1171347 Canada 11/21/2010 11:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A total of over 200 books. Many published between 1680-1910. 90% of these books all have a marble inlay on the inside of both the front and back covers. My Grandfather was a 33 degree Mason and also a Judge for the West Vancouver court system. I've spent the last few going through some of the older books and I think i've got some 'gold'! Lots on the history and establishment of the Masons. Quoting: TripleBBetter idea....scan the lot and upload them. I would love to have a look. |

I've been a fan of sacredtexts for quite some time so perhaps i'll email them and see what they can do. One of the books that really stood out to me is one called 'Egypt, The Cradle of Ancient Masonry. Also there are a series of Mackey's Revised Encyclopedias of Freemasonry which have ton's of amazing facts about rituals and history of the order. I'll get pics up asap |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 953504 United States 11/22/2010 01:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would be careful who you contact about the books. The less people that know who you are and that you have them the better. I would discourage scanning them in the traditional fashion (i.e. flatbed scanner). If they were my books I would set up a good quality digital camera on a tripod with some good fixed lighting.....open the book page by page and take a photo of the cover and each page. I'd then convert all the page images into a PDF. I'd love to help on a project like this. I know....I know....this will take a long time. But considering what you have I would do it. I'd guess that you could do 1 book a day (depending on how much time you have) Good Luck. I'd love to share what these books have to offer with GLP. I'll work on taking photographs of all the books that seem of most intrigue after work today and start cataloging them. It will be quite extensive a task but will start plugging away. I've email the people at sacredtexts in hope that they can help me get these books online. I do have a day job as a carpenter so i'll have to do this in the evenings. i'll keep you posted |

If you read what he writes or Aurthur E Waite as well. Although the rituals are described, portions(dangerous ones are left out) They ALWAYS explain the folly of dabbling. They are included as historical example. Both are incredibly insightful and enlightening sources of info. Cui Bono? |
